Home and Away spoilers: Ava tells Justin a heartbreaking secret

Since bringing his daughter Ava (Alice Roberts) to the Bay for a visit – and to meet his new partner Leah (Ada Nicodemou) – Justin (James Stewart) has been dealing with explosive scenes as the ten year old has acted out multiple times, with her latest tantrum resulting in a declaration that she doesn’t believe he loves her.

After Leah leaves the Morgan house to try and diffuse the tension, Justin follows Ava inside, but she shuts herself in her room and refuses to talk. Tori (Penny McNamee) advises him to let her cool down, while Leah confides in a supportive Maggie (Kestie Morassi) about the situation.

Leaving Ava in Tori’s care, Justin goes to find Leah, admitting that the situation with Ava has only become worse. Leah is unhappy, hating the thought of driving a wedge between Justin and his daughter, but Justin is insistent that she’s done nothing wrong.

Trying again later on, Justin and Leah try to lighten the mood when talking to Ava, but she just insists that she wants to be taken home. Justin tells her that Leah is an important part of his life and she has to accept it. Ava responds by retreating to her room, only emerging for dinner. Justin tells Ava that if she’s going to eat, she’ll do so at the table with everyone else.

At dinner, Tori feels the baby kick, and Ava is distracted by feeling the movement in her stomach. The group start joking about baby names, and Justin mentions how Nina and Brian would call Ava Bunny as a baby. Ava suddenly kicks off when Nina and Brian are mentioned, having a go at Justin and storming away.

A bewildered Justin speaks with Leah later on, and she advises that perhaps it’s not his dad’s new lady who is the problem – something could be going on at home with Nina and Brian. After Leah goes to bed, Ava appears in the kitchen, unable to sleep. Father and daughter sit down in front of the TV with snacks, Justin hoping that she will finally open up.

Ava admits that the talk of old memories made her feel sad, because things have been horrible at home. Justin discovers that Nina and Brian have been fighting a lot, and Brian recently moved out of the family home. A shocked Justin holds his heartbroken daughter. How can he support her through this difficult time?
