Woman shares hack for getting creamiest mash potato with chicken stock02/14/2021
Potato can be cooked in a myriad of different, delicious ways.
We’ve brought you tricks to up your roasties game, by making them spicier or crispier.
And now we have a tip for mashing the stuff.
A TikTokker has shared her secret for making it creamy with lots of flavour.
Comedian Jourdyn Parks from San Antonio, Texas, said she doesn’t boil her taters in water, instead opting for a broth or stock mixture.
She recommends adding the potato in broth or chicken stock, or if you’re preparing the potato to be paired with a different meat, you can opt for beef stock.
Those who don’t eat meat can of course go for vegetable stock.
The trick is to boil the vegetable in water mixed with the stock, to give it the extra flavour.
Jourdyn also leaves the skin on to give it a little bit of texture.

To make her special mash, Jourdyn begins by washing her potatoes – as she prefers having the skin on, she gives them an extra good scrub.
The comedian then rubs them in avocado oil, before dropping them in a pot filled with a little bit of water, sea salt, then chicken broth or beef stock (depending on what she’s cooking).
The TikTokker’s video divided some viewers, with some people saying they want their mash to taste like mash, rather than chicken.
One person wrote: ‘I don’t like the flavour of mashed potato in broth. I legit want them to taste like butter, cream, salt, pepper and potato. That’s it!’
Another said: ‘Crazy thought. Potatoes should taste like potatoes, and not chicken’.
Another thought it was a great idea, saying: ‘I boil my rice in broth, why haven’t I thought to do this with potatoes?’
A third added: ‘I love this idea! I replace water with broth in so many other ways but never thought of THIS’.
Anyone else who hasn’t tried it might want to give it a go.
