Tesco, Asda & Morrisons urgently recall breadsticks, ice lollies and chocolate spread

A food recall is issued when there is a discovery made that is deemed unsafe to the consumer. Although rare, supermarkets will issue the notices on their website. The latest recalls come from Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. 

Tesco is recalling Tesco Mini Breadsticks (six pack) because they may contain sesame which is not mentioned on the label.

Due to a packaging error, some of the packs of mini breadsticks with sesame coating may have been incorrectly packed into multipack Tesco Mini Breadsticks (six pack).

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to sesame. 

The details were shared by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

Pack size: 120g (six bags, 20g each)

Batch code: U3032, U3033, U3041, U3042, U3043, U3051, U3052 and U3053

Best before: End of October 2021

The Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to sesame do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the Tesco store for a full refund.”

Tesco said: “No receipt is required…Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

There are also a number of other recalls currently in place.

Multiple retailers are recalling Wall’s Twister Peak-A-Blue ice lollies due to the presence of milk which is not mentioned on the label. 

The sweet treat is sold at Morrisons, Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s.

In a statement, Tesco said: “If you have a milk allergy, don’t eat this product.

“Instead, please return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given.”

The lollies affected come in a pack of five and all batch codes are affected.

They are also sold separately in ice cream freezers.

Morrisons is also recalling two various Jim Jams Spreads, Jim Jams Dark Hazelnut Choc Spread (vegan) and Jim Jacks Dark Chocolate Orange spread (vegan).

This is because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. 

The contamination of milk poses a possible health risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

All batch codes and all best before codes are affected with the pack size being 330g.

Morrisons said: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.

“No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standards of product quality and safety.
