Ripen an avocado in just two minutes so it’s ready to eat – ‘super quick’

Avocados are super versatile – the ultimate brunch staple. Perfect in a salad, sandwich, wrap or smoothie, this fruit is extremely popular and for good reason.

The only problem with avocados is that they only have a short window of deliciousness.

Avos are supposed to be delectably creamy, however an underripe one might be bitter or have no flavour at all, while an avocado past its prime may be discoloured, smelly, and not yummy at all.

Oftentimes avocado lovers wait days for their fruit to ripen properly, but what should you do if you need an avocado that’s ready to eat now?

According to Taste of Home, all you need is an avocado, a microwave and two minutes.

The food brand shared how you can ripen an avocado “super quickly” – but it only works if it’s not quite ripe but not hard either.

Cut the avocado in half, take out the stone and wrap each half in microwave-safe plastic wrap. Then, pop the avocado halves in a microwave and whack it on high for two minutes.

Let them cool until they are comfortable to touch and hold, then run the wrapped halves under cold water – this will stop the cooking.
