Mum shares trick to cook chicken for a family and keep it crispy in a small oven

The key to keeping food crispy is to make sure things don’t overlap on a tray.

But if you have a family to feed, it can be hard to find enough space to do that.

So one mum has come up with a simple trick to cook lots of chicken on one tray, but making sure the pieces don’t touch.

The Australian mum bought a $5 tray and roasting rack from Kmart, and although the store isn’t available in the UK, you can pick up something similar in supermarkets here.

Instead of lying the breaded chicken flat on the tray, she uses the grills to prop the chicken up, leaving her more space.

This way, she is able to get 14 pieces of chicken to cook at the same time, which makes it perfect for feeding lots of kids.

If you don’t need quite so much chicken, you could use it to cook a few pieces of chicken and then put your side on the other half of the tray.

And it’s a useful hack to remember for post-pandemic life if you’re cooking for a party.

The woman, who posted the tip in a Facebook group, said she turned the rack upside down to make it fit in the oven better.

She added the caption: ‘Why didn’t I think of this earlier, small oven big family.’

Others were impressed with the idea.

‘Great idea. That looks delicious,’ one said.

‘Genius, this is a life saver,’ another added.

A third wrote: ‘Now that’s the kinda hack that make everyday life easier!’

And some parents even shared their own suggestions for how to cook other things in a similar way.

One person suggested using it to heat up taco shells and another said they use it to make lots of toast at one time.
