M&S releases festive Colin the Caterpillar cake with a fetching little Santa hat

M&S has released their Christmas food range, and fans of stalwarts of the brand Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig are in luck.

Ready to grace your Christmas table this year is a Colin the Caterpillar cake that’s had a seasonal makeover.

It’ll taste much the same as the standard chocolate roll, but is decorated with red chocolate presents. Best of all, Colin is wearing an adorable wee Santa hat.

The £10 cake is part of the Christmas food collection range so is available for order now – but you won’t be able to pick him up until 22 December.

This would be ideal for those who don’t want a standard Christmas cake or pudding for dessert, but there’s also a mince pie alternative for those who aren’t partial to dried fruit, and it comes in the form of a percy-mas pie.

M&S say of the treat: ‘These fun alternative mince pies combine tasty shortcrust pastry with a fruity filling and a Percy Pig flavoured sponge, topped with Percy Pig-flavoured fondant icing. The cherry on the cake? Percy himself, of course.’

Other sweet treats on the menu for the festive season include Santa’s yumnut (yes, it does sound dirty to us too) which is a decorated version of the hit bakery item combining 48 layers with all the features of yum yums and doughnuts.

If you’re more of a savoury fan, the supermarket has revamped their crumpet canapés for 2020 with a cheesy marmite offering, and will be selling a sausage roll stack of 32 of the little beauties decorated with pastry stars for £12.

On the drinks front, light up snow-globe gin liqueurs in clementine or rhubarb flavours cost £18 each and feature flakes of edible gold to make them perfect gifting options.

Essentially, it’s going to be a boozy and food-filled Christmas. And, given we might be locked down for much of it, why not indulge?
