Morrisons updates food service with huge changes to delivery and takeaway

Morrisons has introduced new measures to help those shopping during the coronavirus pandemic. The retailer has recently updated its food service by adding more food boxes for delivery and new takeaway options.

At the start of the coronavirus lockdown, Morrisons made adjustments to how customers shop in store and online.

While getting to the supermarket is not always easy, it added more services that were available for delivery.

The retailer has now made huge updates to the food services that are on offer.

Delivery

In recent months, the retailer has launched a selection of food boxes for different dietary requirements and occasions.

It has now introduced three new boxes that range from £20 to £25.

With sunny weather in many parts of the country, customers can pick up the Picnic Food Box, £20.

This is filled with treats and ingredients to make picnic classics, including cocktail sausages, a loaf of bread and crisps.

Posting on Twitter, Morrisons said: “It’s National Picnic Week! And what better way to mark the occasion than with one of our NEW Picnic Food Boxes.

“Full of treats and tasty ingredients to make your picnic a breeze.”

The supermarket giant has also launched the Big Night In Box which is filled with takeaway treats to enjoy at home.

The box can be ordered online for £25 and includes products such as pizza, popcorn and sweets.

The Lean Meat Box is also new and includes 50 portions of reduced fat meat options for £45.

The Morrisons website said: “It’s a great option if you want to fill your freezer, or simply to help you maintain a diet based around leaner and reduced fat proteins.

“From steaks to stir fries, the possibilities for delicious dishes are endless with this box.”

Takeaway

As well as customers being able to order treats online, the retailer has launched a new takeaway service.

Last week, 402 Morrisons Cafés started to offer a range of breakfast, lunch, or dinner options for takeaway.

The menu items include bacon sandwiches, fish and chips and afternoon tea treats.

Head of café operations at Morrisons Marianne Jones said: “Our customers love our cafes. Some dine with us a number of times a week and many have told us they’ve been waiting for their return.

“So we’ve been working behind the scenes to bring back some of our most popular dishes at great prices as we continue to feed the nation.”
