McDonald’s is selling sides of Big Mac sauce today. But there is one big catch.

The sauce is only available on the McDonald’s app and there are limited supplies.

The fast food brand wrote on its Twitter account: “Supplies are limited so go to the app when u are done reading this tweet.”

The sauce comes in “retro blue and silver packaging inspired by the OG Big Mac sandwich wraps.”

The company confirmed the sauce will come free with any Chicken McNuggets purchase.

However, it comes with an extra charge when paired with any other menu items.

In a statement, McDonald’s said: “Let’s be real… a sauce this iconic should go on everything.

“From dipping your fries and Hash Browns to making your favorite sandwiches extra saucy, the possibilities are endless.

“Whatever way you choose to Big Mac sauce-ify your order, we’re here for it.”

The news was first announced last week, with fans going wild over the revelation.

One left a meme expressing they had “prayed for times like this”.

Another wrote: “This is HUGE! Respectfully may I ask that you just allow us to add the sauce to any sandwich in the customization area when ordering and upcharge accordingly please.”

Some were less impressed. One wrote: “Already had that in France on October 2022.”

What is in Big Mac sauce?

The official recipe is a closely guarded secret, but chef Todd Wilbur claims to have reverse-engineered the exact recipe.

He claims the sauce is made from:

  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • Two tablespoons of French dressing
  • Four teaspoons of sweet pickle relish
  • One tablespoon of finely minced white onion
  • One teaspoon of white vinegar
  • One teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

To make the sauce simply mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Refrigerate it for a few hours to allow the flavours to mix before serving.
