You need just seven ingredients – self-raising flour, baking powder, margarine, caster sugar, eggs, milk and of course, lemons.
After just five simple steps, you should have a moist, sticky and citrusy cake.

Ingredients
For the cake
- 175g (6oz) self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 175 grams Stork margarine
- 175g (6oz) caster sugar
- 3 medium eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Finely grated zest of 2 lemons
For the lemon syrup
- Juice of 2 lemons, strained
- 115g (4oz) caster sugar
