Dairy products, also known as milk products, are produced from the milk of mammals such as cattle, water buffaloes, goats, sheep, and camels. Dairy products include yoghurt, cheese, and butter – which can be used in cakes or many types of delicious meals.
Eggs don’t count as a dairy product, however – the confusion comes with the fact that vegans don’t eat dairy products or eggs.
Eggs and dairy can both be frozen to extend how long they last.
Each type of dairy products differ in their expiration dates, and eggs are different from those.
So how long can you store dairy and eggs in the freezer?

How long does milk last in the freezer?
Milk can be safely frozen, but thawed milk does not taste as enjoyable as fresh milk.
The texture will be complete with fatty chunks, so most people don’t freeze milk.
You can only freeze milk for around three to six months, any longer than this and the milk will start to turn yellow.
Leaving milk for too long in the freezer will also cause the liquid to absorb other smells from the freezer- yuck!
If you still want to freeze your milk, you will need to use up some of the carton first.
This is because milk expands when it is frozen, so a full carton would split as it freezes.
Defrost the milk by placing the container in the fridge for a couple of days.
Be sure to never thaw milk outside of the fridge.

How long does yoghurt last in the freezer?
Yoghurt can also be safely frozen, defrosted and eaten afterwards.
Normally yoghurt only lasts a week or so in the fridge, but you can extend this to one or two months by placing it in the freezer.
If you leave it any longer, the yoghurt will be runny and watery once thawed.
The texture will be clumpy and it will not smell pleasant.
How long does cheese last in the freezer?
Normally, hard cheese can last in the fridge for just over three weeks, while soft cheeses can last no more than one week.
Most cheeses will freeze well but might defrost a little crumbly.
Avoid freezing soft cheeses like cream cheese or cottage cheese, as the texture will be too watery to be desirable.
It is much better to grate cheese before you freeze it, to avoid this unpleasant texture.
Store the grated cheese in a freezer bag, and squeeze all of the air out.
Frozen cheeses work best in sauces.
Defrost cheese in its packaging in the fridge overnight.
How long does butter last in the freezer?
Butter lasts about four months in the fridge, but it can be frozen to extend this even further.
Frozen butter will be safe to use even a year later – however, you want to avoid freezer burn.
To keep your butter tasty and smooth in texture, you shouldn’t leave butter in the freezer for longer than two or three months.
Freeze it in the packaging it came in and wrap it in air-tight plastic.
Frozen butter can be ready to use in about thirty seconds!
Just melt it on the stove or in the microwave, if you are making something that requires softened or melted butter.
How long do eggs last in the freezer?
Eggs can last for many weeks in the fridge, and even longer in the freezer.
It’s not recommended to freeze eggs in the shell.
Crack them into a freezer-safe container and they could last for more than a year.
Eggs are safe to eat from the freezer forever, but be aware that your freezer needs to be below 0° F (-18° C) to do so.
When you want to use your frozen eggs, just put the container into the fridge to let them defrost.
Make sure you use them within a week.
