Cadbury hides Creme Eggs worth up to £10k in UK supermarkets – but there’s a catch

This year’s Cadbury Creme Egg competition is set to put Brits in an egg finding spin once again with their new half white and half milk chocolate Creme Eggs hidden across the country, but the stakes are higher than ever. The prizes may have doubled, but there’s a catch… whoever finds one of the limited edition Creme Eggs cannot eat it if they want to win the cash. 

A controversial move by Cadbury, but Creme Eggs have returned to shelves nationwide days after Christmas wrapped up. 

While chocolate fans will be adding one or two to their basket, it seems everyone should get involved as there is £10,000 at stake should they find one of the unique eggs. 

In total, there are 146 Creme Eggs which are half dipped in white chocolate, but only six of them are worth a whopping £10,000. 

This year’s ‘How Do You Not Eat Yours’ competition puts Brits’ temptation to the ultimate test, because to claim the cash prize of up to £10,000, fans need to keep their winning egg wholly intact. 

If they take a bite – or even a lick – they may be disqualified from claiming their prize. 

Each winning Creme Egg has been handmade by Cadbury’s expert team before being individually hidden in major retailers across the country. 

The specific locations of where the winning eggs are are being kept so secret, that even Cadbury don’t know where they are. 

Hopeful shoppers can find one of the six eggs worth £10,000 hidden in Asda, Co-op, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and one independent retailer.

Following that, there are three eggs worth £5,000 up for grabs at Waitrose, One Stop and Booker Shop, Daily Record reports. 

Four lucky people could still get £1,000, whilst there are 12 eggs worth £500 and the rest of the eggs are worth £50.

Cadbury Creme Egg lovers have until March 17 to scoop up the special eggs after the competition began on December 26, 2021.

Lyndsey Homer, Brand Manager for Cadbury Creme Egg, said: “When we celebrated our Golden Goobilee last year, we were absolutely blown away by the response to our golden eggs and this year, we wanted to continue that buzz in true Creme Egg fashion. 

“We’ve flipped our iconic ‘How Do you Eat Yours?’ tagline on its head, challenging our fans to resist the temptation of the nation’s favourite gooey chocolate egg in order to collect their prize. 

“Not only that, but we have doubled the potential prize offering and our team have taken the care to individually hand-dip these absolutely delicious half white and half milk chocolate Creme Eggs.”

With 200 million Cadbury Creme Eggs sold in the UK alone every year, die-hard fans are certain to be unwrapping each of them slower than ever to discover whether there is a ‘winning’ egg inside. 

But will they have the self-control to stop themselves eating a cash prize, or risk it all for a moment of un-regrettable enjoyment?

If you’re lucky (or unlucky) enough to find one of the winning half-and-half Cadbury Creme Eggs, here are the four steps to claim the prize: 

Step 1. Unwrap a Creme Egg to see if you have a half-and-half egg 

Step 2. If you have a winning egg, resist the urge to take a bite

Step 3. Call the phone number (during office hours only) that is printed on the ticket under the foil on the winning egg to find out how to claim your prize. Keep this ticket as we will require it to validate your claim

Step 4: When you call, you will be asked to answer a series of verification questions including the unique code on the ticket, the retailer it was purchased from, plus the date and location of purchase. 

Cadbury Creme Eggs are priced at 64p each. 

They are available from the majority of UK supermarkets. 

The in-store promotion will run from 26/12/21 and 17/04/22.
