The most popular baby names of 2019 have been revealed – and Archie has topped the boys list – The Sun

THE most popular baby names for boys and girls in 2019 so far have been revealed – an unsurprisingly Archie is in the top spot.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their son, Archie Harrison, in May, and since then then tot’s name has shot up the charts.

The royally-approved name is now the most popular for boys, replacing Milo as the top choice, which is now in second place.

The list, compiled by Namberry, said: “Midway through the year, Archie attracted 50 percent more page views than any other boys’ name.”

But they added that was popular before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose it, adding: “Archie can stake a genuine claim to the top spot apart from its royal connection.

“Archie, a diminutive of the Teutonic Archibald which means “truly brave”, was the fastest-rising boys’ name in the US in 2018.

“Archie climbed back onto the official list of Top 1000 Baby Names for the first time in 30 years.”

Making up the rest of the top ten for the boys is Asher in third place, followed by Jasper, and Silas finishes the top five.

Theodore is the next most popular, followed by Atticus, Jack, Aarav and then Finn in tenth place.

For girls, Isla was the top choice for parents.

There was more change in the girls’ category, with Isla replacing Posie as the most popular name – which has now slipped to tenth place.

A firm favourite over the years, Olivia, held strong in second place, while more unusual names Aurora and Ada made up the top five.

Next was Charlotte – another name with royal links – followed by Amara, Maeve, Cora and then Amelia.

Explaining the list, Nameberry added: "These are the 100 most popular names of 2019 so far, based on the number of views each name page receives."
