A TEENAGE girl has been reunited with her favourite cuddly toy 14 years after she lost it.

The daughter of writer Susan Wise Bauer, 51, "wept" when her "dearest stuffed animal friend" – a cat called Plurna – went missing over a decade ago when she was aged four.

Posting on Twitter, her mum explained how the cuddly toy had been found by chance buried near their Virginia home – leaving their family delighted.

Susan wrote: "Fourteen years ago, my four-year-old daughter lost her dearest stuffed animal friend ever. Plurna was gone. We all wept. For months."

She added: "Today, my farm manager found Plurna in the woods wrapped in roots.

"We washed her and she is whole. I am speechless."

Susan also shared photos of Plurna when she was found – covered in soil and moss.

She then revealed a snap of the toy once she'd had a spin in the washing machine.
