Target Debuts a Designer Dress Collection with Three Female-Run Brands

Target is continuing its streak of designer partnerships. For more than 20 years, the American corporation and its Design for All series has enlisted the buzziest names in the fashion industry for capsule collections, from Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra to Missoni and Marimekko. And even though the retail landscape is going through upheaval because of the coronavirus outbreak, Target is not letting circumstances deter the launch of its latest collaboration.

On June 6, Target will launch The Designer Dress Collection, a selection of, well, dresses crafted by female creatives at the top of their game: Lisa Marie Fernandez, LoveShackFancy’s Rebecca Hessel Cohen, and Cushnie’s Carly Cushnie. Each is bringing her signature aesthetics to 70 styles that range from sizes XXS to 3X—and all at affordable price points, from $40 to $60.

“For more than a year, the Target team has been working closely with these three distinct and incredibly talented designers to bring our guests this special and affordable limited-edition collection,” said Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, style and owned brands of Target, in a statement.

From Fernandez’s beachy frills in sorbet colors to LoveShackFancy’s bucolic prints and gauzy fabrics to Cushnie’s bold color-blocked and streamlined silhouettes, the collection is vast, inclusive, and intends to spread levity during this trying time.

“When we started working with these three designers, our collective hope with The Designer Dress Collection was, and still is, to evoke a sense of joy and confidence that comes with finding the perfect dress—especially as we hope for brighter days ahead,” added Sandro.

The official launch is still a few weeks away, but you are able to preview the entire collection here.
