Rose season is here and these are best deals to enjoy this weekend | The Sun

THE weekend is here, and it's hot, and with sales of rose growing there's no better time to buy a bottle.

Quickly becoming the UK's drink of choice, these are the best deals to enjoy in the sun this weekend.

Sale of rose have shot up by 250 per cent, with data from Laithwaites showing sales of rose champagne up 164 per cent last year.

The classic, uber classy Provence rose has remained the favouirte for shoppers, and is the ideal drink in the sunk, or for your summer BBQ but can be expensive – so we've done some digging to find the best deals.

But why rose? Joanne Koukis, founder of curated wine service
and community for women Outpour says "Rosé’s popularity is almost stratospheric, it’s not just for summer anymore.

"Rosé was once seen as a sort of ‘girly drink’ that you could throw a few ice cubes in and enjoy it in the sun but prices and quality are changing.

"We all know that rosés mean summer and are great on their own (ice cubes optional) or at any picnic or BBQ.

"In the UK we tend to drink rosés on their own or have them as an aperitif but we’re missing a trick as they are super versatile and can be brought to any dinner party to pair up with the host’s food.

"There is a real drive for paler rosés. It’s true, they look great but don’t overlook rosés made with more skin contact and deeper coloured grapes.

"They can still be dry and utterly delicious. So many countries make rosé wines (try a Spanish or Italian one) so it’s worth continuing your rosé adventure and tasting around the world."

So where to start?

If you don't mind spending a bit more, a curated box is the way to go.Outpour wines have a Rose box, with three of their best Provençal rosés, they even describe it as pairing "perfectly with the feeling 'summer is finally here' – its £60, and available to buy here.

Waitrose is worth checking out, with up to 25% off a huge number of rose wines, there's even £4 off the holy grail of roses, Whispering Angel – making it just £16.

Thinking cheaper? La Cerisa Rosa Pinot Grigio Rosé is a great choice and only £6.29.
