Queen Elizabeth II was pictured laughing and joking today with cast members of Coronation Street as Her Majesty received a tour of the studio at Manchester’s Media City. For the visit, the royal wore a special brooch, which has only been worn a handful of times.

The visit came as the show celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Queen Elizabeth went for a beautiful blue coat with large buttons down the middle and a matching hat.

Known for adding brooches to her look, today was no different with a stunning flower brooch pinned to the Queen’s coat.

One of the larger in her collection, the Queen Mother’s Ruby Bouquet Brooch has been worn by the monarch for both daytime and evening engagements.

The brooch featured a spray of crystallised flowers and scrolls, set with diamonds and rubies.

The flowers are gathered by a delicate small bow towards the bottom of the brooch.

It is thought that the Queen inherited the jewel when the Queen Mother passed away in 2002.

The Queen Mother wore the brooch in her later years along with the Crown Rubies.

Interestingly, it is only the fifth time that the Queen has shown off the ruby brooch.

She debuted it back in March 2008 in Northern Ireland before wearing it again in 2014 for a gala dinner during her state visit to France.

A year later, the Queen opted for it again during her state visit to Germany in June 2015.

It was most recently seen back in 2019 when the Queen wore it for the church service on Christmas Day.

She added it to a bright red coat for the occasion, matching the beautiful rubies perfectly.

Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the brooch’s rare appearance, royal fans loved the Queen’s look today.

One person wrote: “Her Majesty is such an inspiration, looks lovely in blue.

Another said: “Beautiful, always has a stunning outfit on.”

“Love that colour, she looks lovely,” tweeted a third.

The Queen wasn’t the only Royal Family member to see out today, with Princess Beatrice and Sophie, Countess of Wessex attending the start of the Ladies Singles Semi-Finals at Wimbledon today.

For the occasion, the Countess opted for a beautiful polka-dot dress by fashion brand ME+EM.

The dress, which is made using a chiffon fabric, retails for a whopping £295.

Sophie added a pair of black sunglasses to the look and accessorised it with small silver earrings.
