Queen Elizabeth is known for her impeccable style with her beautiful dresses, coats as well as brooches. Her hair is also of particular interest to royal fans, noticing how it is changing over the years.

As a young Princess, Elizabeth wore her hair down and it was around shoulder length.

Her natural hair appeared to be very curly, a hair type that has passed down to her daughter, Princess Anne.

Thanks to her hair stylists, the Queen has maintained the structured style throughout the years.

The only change has been that she stopped dyeing it and has worn it at varying lengths.

The Queen stopped dyeing her hair in 1990 with a product called Chocolate Kiss and gradually went grey within a few months.

As the Queen has aged, she has opted for shorter hair with two prominent curls at the front of her hair.

For 23 years, the Queen’s hairdresser has said to be London-based Scot Ian Carmichael.

It’s said that he visits either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle as least once a week to attend to his most famous client.

But what does Her Majesty ask for?

The Queen’s hairdresser is fiercely loyal and has never spoken publicly about cutting the Queen’s hair.

However, journalist Dame Esther Rantzen recently shared an insight into how Her Majesty likes her hair.

She revealed: “I met somebody who was the Queen’s hairdresser, who said that was she likes and insists upon is that her hair is entirely symmetrical.

“Her hair has to look the same from one profile and then to the other, so that whatever side people are watching her from, her hair always looks exactly the same.”

It is thought that to tame her naturally wavy hair, the monarch opts for a perm.

The curls can last for a number of months, something that proved to be in the Queen’s favour during lockdown.

Throughout the first few months of the pandemic when rules were strict, the monarch reportedly had been styling her own locks.

At the time, a source told The Sun: “The Queen has done her own hair for years at Balmoral during her summer holidays and so she’s used to it.

“She washes, dries and sets it herself – and she’s very good at it.”

According to the source, the Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly had been helping the monarch out with her hair.

Another royal who often attracted attention for her on-trend hairstyles was Princess Diana.

The iconic hairstyle, short with lots of layers, was worn by the Princess of Wales for several years.

Sam McKnight was Diana’s personal hairstyles for years and first met her in 1990.

He previously revealed that he would cut it so often so that her hair never looked grown out.

Kate Middleton will also attract lots of attention for her signature wavy looks.

She regularly dyes her hair different colours and has channeled colours including caramel, dark brown as well as highlights.
