Prince Charles ‘personally regrets he won’t see Harry, Meghan Markle and Archie’ but ‘there wasn’t much he could do’

PRINCE Charles “personally regrets the fact he won’t see his son and family” now Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Archie have relocated to LA, according to a royal author.

Nigel Cawthorne said that although Charles, 71, offered support to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, there was “wasn’t a lot he could do” to persuade them to stay.

Nigel, author of Prince Andrew, Epstein and the Palace, told Fabulous: “He no doubt personally regrets the fact that he won’t see his son and family as much as he otherwise would have. He likes tradition and order.

“I think he genuinely made an attempt to support what Harry and Meghan were looking for as long as it wouldn’t upset other HRH’s.

“In truth, however, there wasn’t a lot he could do apart from offering moral support.”

The royal author said that now Harry and Meghan have stepped down as senior royals, and moved to start their financially-independent life in LA, it is “unlikely that he [Charles] will try to get Harry to re-enter The Firm.”

Nigel added: “For the sake of The Firm he will feel this outcome is better that the monarchy is small in size rather than a constellation of stars in separate orbits.

The Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 38, are currently self-isolating with Archie, one, at Tyler Perry’s £15million Beverly Hill mansion.

It has been announced they are launching a charitable organisation called Archewell in due course, and have reportedly signed with an elite agency.

According to reports, the couple have joined the Harry Walker Agency – which also counts the Obamas, Clintons, Serena and Venus Williams, and TV legend Oprah Winfrey as clients – in their first career move since moving to Hollywood.

In 2015, the Clintons reportedly earned an incredible £20million in one year from public speaking.

Back in March, it was reported that Prince Harry’s relationship with Charles is “rock solid” and Harry has listened closely to the advice of his father who is helping to support his future plans.

The insider said: "Harry is and always has been incredibly close to his father.

"And nothing that has happened in the last few months has changed that.

"Of course everybody, Prince Charles included, would rather that Harry and Meghan had remained as part of the Royal Family.”

A source previously told The Sun that the Queen is also leaving the door open for Harry and Meghan to return to the royal family, and will review the situation 12 months after their departure.

They said: “She [The Queen] made it very clear to him that he [Harry] and Meghan are always able to come back if they change their minds and she will welcome them with open arms.

“But she wanted to make certain Harry knew there were limits and the whole set-up is subject to a review after 12 months.”

A spokesperson for Prince Charles has been contacted for comment.

Nigel also said Charles feared there could be "problems" with the Duchess of Sussex joining the royal family as “there’s only room for one strong royal woman – the Queen.”
