Nike Unveils Space Hippie 01 in New "Wheat White" Colorway

08/07/2020

Over the last few months, Nike has debuted its highly-anticipated Space Hippie line in grey and orange, as well in an updated “Volt” colorway. This time, Nike is giving the Space Hippie 01 silhouette a new “Wheat White” color scheme. Like its predecessors, the new iteration maintains the same sustainable build. Yet the “Wheat White” shoe is a refreshing take on the 01 model, shifting from light grey to a faded black colorway.

The poleyester “Space Waste Yarn” upper, which is made from recycled plastic bottles, T-shirts and yarn scraps, arrives in a black colorway and is branded by a copper-colored swoosh. Unlike other models’ sky blue soles, the “Wheat White” 01 comes with a light grey sole that combines recycled ZoomX foam with NikeGrind rubber to provide signature multi-colored flecked details. The 01s feature a standard lace-up build and heel tab embroidered with Nike’s sunburst logo.

Not only is it the most lightweight silhouette within the collection, but it also has the lowest carbon footprint. The sneakers ship in a shoebox made from re-purposed material and printed on with a plant-based ink, resulting in one of Nike’s lowest carbon-footprint drops ever.

Take a closer look at the new colorway in the images above. The Space Hippie 01 in “Wheat White” will release on Nike’s website for $130 USD beginning August 20 at 10 a.m. EDT.

In other news, Chris Gibbs‘s Union has revealed its 2020 Jordan Brand footwear collection, which includes two Air Jordan 4s, a fresh colorway of the Zoom ‘92 and a new Delta Mid silhouette.
