Mum’s simple ‘shopper docket’ hack sees her save thousands of pounds on groceries every year

04/06/2021

A SAVVY mum has shared a clever money-saving hack which helps her save thousands in any one year – and it's easy enough for anyone to do.

The Australian woman shops discounted items or offers while doing her grocery shop, and will transfer whatever amount she saved into a seperate account.

After paying for her groceries she will look at her docket and see the amount she'd saved.

She will then put that exact amount into savings as if it doesn't even exist, with the mum admitting it's a "nice little Christmas bonus" at the end of year.

The Australian woman shared her tip on Facebook and showed a docket from her recent shopping trip.

It said she'd saved a total of $27.54 (£15) and she transferred this saving into the dedicated "shopping docket account" she has set up.

She said she started using this method in January 2020 and last year she managed to save a huge $2,500 (£1400).

This year already she's pocketed $799.46 (£440) and plans on using the extra funds at Christmas.

"I am pretty much rewarding our good choices at the supermarket and it's a great Christmas bonus," she wrote and shared images on Facebook.

"I love a good budget too and refine ours all the time! Bloody good job if I do say so myself. Hope you all appreciate the tip," she said.

She revealed that her bank allows her to set up multiple accounts which she uses for "everyday basics, mortgage payments, our pay and the shopping dockets saving account."

Other people loved the easy saving tip and her post was like by over 800 people with many vowing to give it a go.

"Just a fantastic idea, I'm going to start this week. Thanks for sharing,"one woman wrote.

The idea is perfect for those who don't save regularly and want to start putting away smaller amounts.
