MEGHAN Markle's mum Doria Ragland has inspired a character in a saucy new novel who has an affair with the Queen's private secretary.

Following initial reports the Duchess of Sussex's mum was to spend Christmas last year at Sandringham, author Jasmine Guillory was prompted to write her new book Royal Holiday.

The romance novel sees character Vivian – who is based on the 63-year-old LA-based yoga teacher – join daughter Maddie on her work trip to England to style a member of the royal family.

She goes on to fall in love with Malcolm, the fictional monarch's private secretary in the juicy storyline of the book, which is published by Penguin and will be released on October 1st.

Guillory – who has also penned best-sellers The Wedding Date and The Proposal – has admitted she was directly inspired by Meghan's mum following a Twitter request.

Her librarian friend, Margaret Wilson, last year posted: "I [now] NEED a charming romance about the single mother of a new Duchess falling in love with an appropriately aged royal retainer while spending Christmas at Sandringham."

In response, Guillory wrote: "I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!"

Less than a year later, Royal Holiday – which is already available to pre-order on Amazon – is hitting the shelves.

Speaking to Oprah magazine, the author said: "Vivian was a single mom when she raised her daughter, she worked hard all of her life and never really had time for anything but her daughter and her family and work, and I wanted her to find love, and someone who values her for how great she is.

“In Royal Holiday, this is the first vacation she’s had in years, and I loved both giving her a real fantasy experience, and also exploring her emotions around relationships and work and family.

“And I really loved writing her love story with Malcolm!”

The blurb for the book gives an insight into the romance that awaits, reading: "She’s excited to spend the holidays taking in the magnificent British sights, but what she doesn’t expect is to become instantly attracted to a certain private secretary, his charming accent, and unyielding formality.

“Malcolm Hudson has worked for the Queen for years and has never given a personal, private tour – until now.

“He is intrigued by Vivian the moment he meets her and finds himself making excuses just to spend time with her.

“When flirtatious banter turns into a kiss under the mistletoe, things snowball into a full-on fling.

“Despite a ticking timer on their holiday romance, they are completely fine with ending their short, steamy affair come New Year’s Day… or are they?”

In the event, Doria celebrated Christmas 2018 at home in the US, while Meghan and Prince Harry joined the royal family at Sandringham.

It is unclear whether she will be joining her daughter this year for grandson Archie's first festive season.
