Meghan Markle ‘sent a secret message to the royal family’ by choosing a purple dress at the One Young World summit – The Sun

THIS week Meghan Markle stunned at the One Young World summit at the Royal Albert Hall in a beautiful purple £29 Aritzia dress.

It was the first appearance she had made since her explosive ITV documentary aired on Sunday, and it's been suggested that her colour choice was sending a secret message.

In the emotional documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, the Duchess of Sussex, 38, looked close to tears as she revealed she is struggling as a new mum in the spotlight.

The colour of Meghan’s dress on Tuesday was a bold purple, which has been associated with royalty for years.

Typically only the elite could afford the expensive dye that produced garments in the colour and Queen Elizabeth I even banned any non-royals from wearing it.

During the current Queen’s coronation in 1953, purple was prominent in the official portraits taken.

By opting to wear the striking colour this week, Meghan has sent a subtle message that she belongs in the family and is not going anywhere, the Express suggests.

The Aritzia dress, which initially cost £81 but has now been reduced to £29, was first seen on Meghan while she was pregnant with Archie in January.

At that time Meghan had joined Prince Harry to visit Birkenhead, and had paired the vibrant frock with bright red accessories.

The dress from the Canadian brand has since become victim of the so-called Meghan effect and has sold out in every size, but fans can still get hold of the black version.

On the documentary, the mum-of-one, who gave birth to Archie in May said she feels like she is "existing not living".

The documentary delves into the effect intense media scrutiny has had on former actress Meghan and how the couple are "buckling" under pressure.

In a preview clip of the programme, Meghan revealed her new royal life has been "a struggle" adding: "Not many people have asked if I'm OK."

She replies to a question about her physical and mental health by describing the recent difficulties she's gone through since becoming a royal and new mum to baby Archie.

Meghan says: "Look, any woman, especially when they are pregnant, you're really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging.

"And then when you have a new born, you know… And especially as a woman, it's a lot.

"So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed it's, well…"

She has now received a huge outpouring of support from more than 70,000 fans with the hashtag "WeLoveYouMeghan" the top trend on Twitter.

The programme comes amid reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking to build a new home in Botswana to lead a more private life and "focus" on Africa.

In the hour-long documentary, Harry expresses a desire to leave the UK and says Cape Town would also be “an amazing place to base ourselves”.

Harry and Meghan are said to be planning a six-week break from from royal duties starting next month so they can enjoy some “family time”.

The couple are believed to be planning on taking baby son Archie to the US in November to celebrate Thanksgiving in LA, where Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland lives.

But the tot is due to spend his first Christmas at the Queen’sSandringham estate in Norfolk with the rest of the Royal Family.

We shared how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have suffered from ‘no guidance and no support’ from the palace, says Paul Burrell.

In the documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, Meghan said that keeping quiet and having a "stiff upper lip" about the scrutiny she faces is "damaging".

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has ignored Michelle Obama’s advice on how to behave and it’s a grave mistake, royal expert warns.
