THEY say blondes have more fun – and Jodie Weston certainly knows this to be true.

The DJ and influencer has managed to dodge parking tickets and even bagged free drinks thanks to her blonde locks in past.

But in December, the 27-year-old decided to don a brunette wig as she ran errands around London to see how much her hair colour really affected her everyday life.

Needless to say, Jodie – who rose to fame on TV show Rich Kids Go Skint – saw a "massive shift" in how people treated her.

As a blonde, Jodie says men often let her jump the queue – but she couldn't even get anyone to hold a door open for her while wearing the brunette wig.

She said: "I attracted more of an accountant type guy or guys with glasses on.

"Then I noticed that people didn't offer to help as much, I guess maybe they thought I had everything figured out.

"I think guys more so like to help out the 'damsel in distress' don’t they?"

With her dyed blonde hair, Jodie says she's often cat-called on the street and attracts "upfront and cocky" blokes – but as a brunette, more "serious businessmen" approached her.

What's more, the natural brunette first experimented with blonde hair while she was going through a period of heartbreak.

She said: "It all started up with a breakup from the guy that I thought was the love of my life. You know how girls go through a breakup and then change their hair, so that’s what I did.

"I was always a brunette and proud but then I realised blondes have more fun. It’s like the Marilyn Monroe film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

"My personality is lighthearted and bubbly and that matches my hair. And when I had the more serious hairstyle, I was treated differently.

"But I think I am more judged by women as a blonde as girls are their own worst enemies. When I am blonde, girls judge me and think I am a bimbo."

Jodie explained that she received more help from shop assistants when she was blonde – but shop employees didn't approach her as much with a wig because they assumed she was a "serious" person.

What's more, the blonde bombshell also didn't blag as many freebies while wearing her wig.

She added: "With my more glam look, I definitely get more stuff for free, more people willing to help me out and go the extra mile.

"Obviously I couldn’t go into bars to test out the theory as they’re all shut but I got the general vibe from the wolf whistling and how guys talked to me as a blonde."

Jodie, who shares her glam life on her Instagram page, also made a video to discuss how she felt afterwards.

She explained: "‘I wanted to do the experiment to keep myself entertained in the pandemic.

"I thought it would be a good idea to go out and see if people treated me differently, see if I got chatted up as much, see if people offered to help and see how people would judge me.

She revealed she tried to "spice up" her weekly shop during what she described as this "horrendous, boring second lockdown".

I didn't get any 'oi oi’s' or cat-calls, or looks up and down when I walked through the store; no one undressed me with their eyes as a brunette.

The star revealed she dressed as her usual glamorous self for one week and then the following week, revealed her new look as ‘Jodie 2.0’.

She said: "I had a brunette bob, glasses on my head, high neck top and long sleeves, more of a serious, academic, librarian vibe.

"I didn't get any 'oi oi’s' or cat-calls, or looks up and down when I walked through the store; no one undressed me with their eyes…

"However I did get stuck at the checkout for 10 minutes waiting for the male member of staff to ID me for the Red Bull I was trying to buy, it was so annoying."

But Jodie admitted that her brunette look did appear to win someone over – as she got chatting to a ‘lovely guy’ – through the screen – on the till next to her.

She explained that the guy – who told her he was a doctor – felt sorry for her because he could see how long she had been waiting.

She added: "It was a loss in terms of how long I waited at the checkout but a win because I attracted a different type of man to what I usually attract.

"When I went to the supermarket as myself, I got two 'hey darling, how are you doing?' comments pretty much as soon as I walked through the door.

"But the worst part was that 75% of my time in the supermarket, I was being followed around by this really obvious security man."

Jodie revealed she could feel someone "watching her" and couldn’t believe that the security thought she was trying to ‘steal’ something.

She described the ordeal as "offensive" and said the only good part was that her experience at checkout only lasted ten seconds instead of taking ten minutes like the week before.
