I’m plus-sized & there’s a clear winner between Skims & Spanx – the top choice smooths better & doesn't roll | The Sun

A PLUS-sized fashion vlogger has pointed to a clear winner in the battle between two popular shapewear labels.

Chrissy B tried on shaping shorts from both Spanx and Skims under the same tight orange dress to compare the results.

Chrissy noted that many shoppers have been relying on Spanx for years, so the question is: Is it worth switching from a known brand to a new one?

"Spanx is already super, super popular. It's super reliable. We know that Spanx work," she said.

Skims are newer, so "how does it compare to a brand I've been using for years that I already love?"

To compare, she tried on Spanx's High Power Shorts, $38, and Skims' Sculpting Short Above the Knee, $36.

Chrissy said that one point for Skims is their inclusive sizing, with products going up to size 5X.

"Already, that's a plus. It's available in larger sizes, which I think is amazing," she said.

But when she put her Skims on and got dressed, she wasn't totally impressed.

"I don't feel like it's holding as well as it could in the mid-section. As you can see, you can still see some of that pudge," she said.

"I don't feel like it smooths as well as it could have," she added. "I also don't feel like it did the best job in snatching my waist."

Another issue was that the Skims shorts rolled down Chrissy's back in the short time she was trying them on,.

She said they also roll up the knee throughout the day.

"I have worn the Skims garment out of the house several times, and one thing that I've experienced with that is an incredible amount of rolling up and sometimes rolling down," she said.

"That's one of the biggest things for me that is so annoying," she added.

Ultimately, she isn't anti-Skims – she just prefers Spanx.

"I don't think [the Skims short] is horrible. I don't think that the hold is super bad," she said.

"I just think that Spanx did a little bit better."

She went on: "I genuinely do like both of them. I wear both of them. But there is one that I like better.

"Overall, Spanx just did a little better," she concluded, noting that she didn't have the same rolling problem with the more established brand and that they do a better job with sculpting.
