BE careful where you get your cleaning tips from.

Professional cleaner Vanesa Amaro posted a video revealing the cleaning mistake you might be making thanks to social media.

When it comes to washing your floors, the cleaning method you use depends on the kind of floor you have.

Amaro broke down the rules, explaining that if you have laminate, vinyl, or even wood floors, you should not use boiling water to clean them.

Though it might make them look cleaner, she said it's not a beneficial cleaning method.

"In the long run, you will ruin your floors," she said.

Instead of using boiling water, she said to properly clean wood floors, you should use Bruce Hardwood Floor Cleaner, which can be bought on Amazon for about $15.

For cleaning laminate floors, she said to use an O-Cedar Flat Mop, which can also be found relatively cheap on Amazon at around $23.

The cleaning professional suggested only using boiling water if your floors are made of tile or porcelain.

When cleaning the tiles, Amaro suggested using Gain detergent powder and bleach with hot water.
