THEY might be coming back into fashion, but one podiatrist has insisted there's nothing worse than wearing a pair of ballet flats if you're out for the day.

Two professionals from the Louise Reaney Clinic in Sheffield took to TikTok to reveal the "five things we wouldn't do as podiatrists".

First up, wearing a closed toe shoe without socks.

"If you put your foot into a shoe without a sock every day it’s like wearing the same pair of socks day after day without washing them," she explained.

The other podiatrist was next up, and revealed her thoughts about the ballet flats that have been seen on the shelves in Primark and Zara.

"I wouldn’t wear flat ballet-style shoes out all day to walk in," she said.

And don't even think about using a foot peeling mask.

"Your cuticle is there as a barrier at the bottom of your nail to prevent infection so you need it," the younger woman said.

And the last tip was not to take a blade to your own foot.

"Your foot is a long way from your face and your eyes and all sorts of damage can happen," she concluded.

"And we have often seen people who’ve done that and it’s not been great.

"Use a file, use moisturisers, but don’t take a blade to your foot."

"Washed it off early, but feet were swollen and painful for a week+ after."

"Very helpful – thanks," another added.
