A DIY whizz has shared the savvy way she was able to turn two IKEA buys into a chic coffee table suitable for both inside and out in the garden.

Sifra shared a clip of her clever homeware hack to social media, starting off by taking viewers with her into one of the stores by the retail giant.

Picking up a lamp shade in the shape of a black cage, which can be found for around £17 in the UK, she then found a small wooden tray that can be purchased for £8.

The woman then bought some Pattex branded repair gel on her way home before getting started on her DIY project.

Peeling the label off the circular wooden slab, she then put some of the glue on the bottom of the lampshade and stuck the two together.

Placing it onto a cardboard box that had been ripped up to cover the floor, she then used matt black spray paint to coat her creation.

TikTok user @siefshome then put the coffee table into her home before placing a candle and a vase on top with greenery.

“Think I will use it as a side table in the garden this summer,” she wrote in the caption alongside a heart emoji and a sun emoji.

People were quick to comment on the video as one person shared: “Ok these are about to be bedside tables for my guest room!”

Another wrote: “The wood would have looked nice too, great idea love it,”  with a heart emoji.
