I was a single mum working two jobs – now I make £180 an hour as a cam girl and fit my 50 clients around the school run

JUST sixteen months ago, Rachel Kelly was working two jobs to support her family, after splitting from her daughters' dad.

But the 29-year-old, from Cardiff, can now rake in her entire monthly salary in just a week, by working as a cam girl through Off The Record.

"I saw an advert for it in a magazine and just thought ‘wow that looks really interesting’," she says, in an exclusive interview with Fabulous.

"I was working an evening job as a delivery driver for a Chinese takeaway as well as my main job in mechanical engineering.

"I just wanted to make a bit of extra money and I thought ‘that looks perfect, you can do it from home’, so I quit my takeaway job.

"The prospect of kick starting my sex life after having two kids was appealing too."

Rachel, whose girls are aged six and two, adds: "When I split up with my husband last year, we went down from two wages to one and I never wanted the girls to notice any difference.

"But I’m not just doing this for my children, because I could do any job to provide for them, this one gives me flexibility and time to do the school run – that's what I like about it."

As well as working hard, Rachel is currently half-way through a two-year course in Mechanical Engineering at the Open University.

When she started studying, she went down to part-time hours at her engineering job. But since taking up cam work in June 2019, she's made £20,000 in take home cash.

She says: "Because of coronavirus, I was put on furlough at the engineering company I worked for, which reopened with a skeleton staff.

"Eventually they realised they had to let us go and I was made redundant in August.

"I had a slight moment of panic but I was already doing cam work in the evenings and ultimately I knew I could support myself with that. Things were never tight at home.

"I only work 30 hours a week but this is my only job at the moment, I've made about £6,000 in the past four months.

"My hourly rate is very much increased, I can make my whole month's wage in a week now. And I don't have to do all my cam work in the evenings, I can work during the day too."

Rachel only goes on camera when her girls are asleep, at childcare or with family, meaning they aren't aware of her adult career.

But she says her friends and family are all aware and very supportive of her choice.

She says: "My girls have absolutely no idea. My eldest did ask ‘why does Alice* sometimes go to grandma’s during the day?’ but I told her I’m doing an online customer service job.

"Most of my family know exactly what I do and I'm open with my friends too, they are all 100 per cent supportive.

"I just don’t have time to deal with anybody’s negative opinions. They will never affect me because I don’t feel the slightest bit ashamed of what I do.

"I’m safe, everything is consensual and I only do things I choose to do. I am in control, but I feel like there is a stigma around it.

"People should be more open minded, this isn't purely sexual, I am like a therapist.

"I get a lot of lonely clients, who crave genuine intimacy, which could just be a chat or someone to cuddle on the sofa. I feel like this is a lifeline for some of them.

"I have a very well maintained profile, which only shows my head shot, I'm always told people come to me for my eyes and my smile.

"There's a lot of work that goes into this and it can be quite emotionally draining."

Rachel has a group of 50 regular clients, who range in age from 20 to 65, and normally invites everyone into a group chat first.

She says: "I don’t offer any nudity or sexual activity in the group chat.

"I state very clearly on my profile that my main aim is building a connection with people, so I can give them a tailored experience.

"It takes nothing to be polite, people should remember I'm a real person on the other end of the screen and I don't take any undue requests.

"Often you get guys saying ‘t*ts out now’ and I’ll say ‘no thank you, goodbye’.

"Some men think a webcam girl will do whatever they're told, because they're paying money, but for me that's just not how it works.

"From the group chat, my clients can ask me to join a private conversation, but it's not all about nudity and sex, I offer a 'date night' experience where we could chat for three hours.

"It does normally end in a sexual encounter though.

"They're billed £2.99 per minute, or £179.40 for an hour, and it's £1.39 per minute in the group chat.

"I've been tipped up to £150 on top of that. I also have a wish list with homeware, clothing, undies, sex toys and outfits, although I've only had one client buy me something from there.

"I’ll either film on my living room sofa or in the bedroom, depending on if I want to watch TV."

Despite being proud of her career, Rachel says this is "not forever".

She said: "I do this job to fund my lifestyle while I'm at uni, because I had to go down to part-time hours.

"I plan to get back into full-time engineering work, cam work was never my end goal.

"It’s been a very enjoyable sideline but it’s not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

"As well as it’s served me in the meantime, it’s just not something I see myself doing forever."

Last week, we spoke to a couple who make £150 having marathon 5 hour sex sessions on camera in front of strangers – and say "it’s made our relationship stronger".
