I use £400 worth of products on my face & moisturise 8 times a day, my boyfriend thinks I’m ridiculous but I don’t care

A MODEL has admitted she is so obsessed with her regimented skincare routine that she moisturises her face eight times per day.

Gilda Joelle Osborn, 29, from New York, uses pricey skincare products worth $550 daily (£400), which she has to replace every month and a half – but believes her strict routine is to thank for her glowing skin.

The 29-year-old, who started modelling in 2016, rarely feels the need to wear foundation as she prefers the way her skin looks without makeup and thinks she has a "great complexion".

Gilda admits her mum and her boyfriend think her strict routine is "ridiculous" but they have accepted it is what she wants to do.

She also believes her acne-free skin helps her book more modelling jobs and feels like her lengthy moisturising routine pays off.

She said: "My mum began encouraging me to use skincare products in middle school, but of course I was stubborn and didn’t start taking her advice until my mid-20s.

"She has gorgeous skin and looks much younger than her years, so I’m glad I eventually listened to her. I moved to Miami when I was 25, so that’s when I noticed my skin needing extra care.

"The sun is so damaging and drying to your skin. I also began modelling, so I quickly found myself a solid skincare routine.

"A few years passed and I became more intrigued by different products and what each ingredient does for your skin, thus spurring my regimented and lengthy moisturising routine.

"I think preventative skin care is so important. Yes, aging is inevitable, but if I can slow the process as much as possible naturally, I’m happy."

Gilda’s skincare regime begins from the moment she wakes up – she then applies products after her morning workout, a few hours later she uses a mask, then will carry a selection of toners with her to freshen up throughout the day.

After dinner, Gilda uses more products and again before going to bed.

Despite her skincare routine being extremely time consuming, Gilda believes it is worth it as her career depends on "how she looks each day".

The model only started using skincare products when she was 25-years-old after she noticed fine lines on her face from spending too much time in the sun in her early 20s.

However since implementing her strict routine – the lines have significantly reduced.

I rarely wear any foundation because I love the way my skin looks without any makeup. It’s important to let your skin breathe, so I rarely feel the need to cover up my skin.

She added: "For me, as a model, skincare is so important because I want to have this career as long as possible.

"I rarely wear any foundation because I love the way my skin looks without any makeup. It’s important to let your skin breathe, so I rarely feel the need to cover up my skin.

"Since my routine is so regimented, I feel like it pays off. My skin always looks soft and hydrated. I rarely have acne, and my skin always has a glow to it.

"My skin care routine, in conjunction with clean eating has given me a great complexion. I always wake up with plump, hydrated, and refreshed skin."

However Gilda’s skincare obsession doesn’t come cheap and she admits that the four products she uses each day – total a hefty cost of $550 (£400).

And the four products need replacing every six weeks so it’s easy to see how her skincare routine has become an expensive habit.

"My boyfriend and mum totally think it’s ridiculous, but they’ve just accepted it at this point," she said.

"The total price for the 4 moisturisers that I use every day is $550 (£400). I’d say I have to buy new ones every 1.5 months or so. I also have a rotation of 3 different toners I use each day also.

"Even though I use them every day, I’m able to make the bottle last a little longer since I’m conservative with the amount I use each time.

"My career depends on how I look each day, so it’s important for me to keep my skin in the best condition possible."

Gilda believes her active lifestyle in New York means her skin needs extra care.

She starts by splashing her face with water and spraying with toner, followed by a rejuvenating face serum and an eye serum when she wakes up.

The model washes her face again using Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence and Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum after her morning workout.

My career depends on how I look each day, so it’s important for me to keep my skin in the best condition possible.

A few hours later, she applies a hydration mask and washes her face again with an oil cleanser if she has walked around the city.

Gilda also uses a selection of toners throughout the day to help increase her skin hydration.

She said: "I love to add an extra layer of antioxidants to protect against free radicals.

"After dinner and after I’ve washed my face, I use another toner and apply another round of de Mamiel Intense Nurture Antioxidant Elixer. I allow this to work its magic for an hour or so.

"Before bed, I apply a generous amount of another hydration mask and use an oxygen contour eye cream."

Gilda said she is proud to moisturise her skin eight times a time and believes it is very important for her lifestyle and career.

She even thanks her glowing complexion for booking so many jobs since becoming a model in 2016 after completing her master’s degree in occupational therapy.

The successful model, who shares snaps of her clear skin on her Instagram page (@gildajoelle), said her complexion makes everyone else's job easier.

She said: "Having clear, moisturised skin is very important as a model. It makes everyone’s job easier – from the makeup artist, to the photographer, to the retoucher.

"Plus, having strong digitals – which are unedited photos taken with little to no makeup – is so important. If my skin looks amazing in my digitals, I’ll book more jobs!

"Of course my skincare routine is time consuming, but it’s worth it.

"So many of my friends ask about my regime so I try to keep it concise since I know most would not spend as much time or money on their skincare as I do.

"If others are asking me about my skincare, it means I must be doing something right!"
