IF you're hoping to give your home a modern update, then chances are you'll have to be prepared to splash some cash.

But savvy DIY fan Betsy Smith has demonstrated how you can overhaul your home on a budget – using bargain buys from B&M and B&Q.

Besty took to TikTok (@theatkinson_home) and posted a before snap of her very dated kitchen, which featured dark wooden cupboards and was in desperate need of some TLC.

In the clip, she begins: "What we used to transform our kitchen."

Betsy then proceeds to explain how she replaced the very tired-looking beige countertops with some D-C-Fix marble matt white self-adhesive film that she picked up from B&Q.

She goes on to confirm how it worked "really well," adding: "We sealed round the sink and cooker top but the worktops were completely smooth."
