HODINKEE Joins Grand Seiko for a "Yūgure" GMT SBGM236 Watch

10/27/2020

No strangers to the Grand Seiko brand, HODINKEE has just taken its relationship with the Japanese watchmaker a step further with a limited edition Grand Seiko Automatic GMT SBGM236 watch.

Named the “Yūgure” (Japanese for dusk or twilight), the watch was created to not only tell time but its choice of twilight blue, the hue just before the sun sets, philosophically asks: “how is one’s time spent?” The balanced watch sits at 39.5mm on the wrist at just a thickness of 13.7mm. While this is a GMT watch, the added timezone function is kept rather understated with muted-gray 24-hour numerals and GMT hand — all so its diamond-cut hour, minute, seconds hand, and markers can shimmer brilliantly across the dial’s surface. An added touch can be seen in the 24-hour numerals’ sharp edges and inverted triangles. This detail is sure to please watch collectors.

Powered by Grand Seiko’s 9S66 movement, the SBGM236for HODINKEE sees a water-resistance of 30m, a power reserve of 72 hours, “HODINKEE” engraving on its Zaratsu-polished caseback, and is limited to 500 pieces. Those interested can find it dropping on HODINKEE’s online store today at 10 a.m EDT for a price of $5,400 USD.

In other watch news, this single-owner 5512 Rolex Submariner Explorer dial sold for $250,000 USD.
