From Gemma Collins to Amber Gill, meet the biggest reality TV earners of 2020

10/04/2020

WE may remember 2020 for social distancing, but you can't deny it's been a year full of great reality TV too.

From the movers and shakers to the climbers (and fallers) – welcome to the rundown of the richest reality stars of the past decade.

The Rules

1 The Reality TV Rich List only includes British celebs who found fame as a result of participating in a reality TV show that was originally broadcast in the UK within the last 10 years.

For the first time, this rules out the One Direction boys, who have topped the list in every previous year.

We've not included reality show judges and people already of note who gained more fame as a result of being on a reality format.

2 To qualify, celebs have to have made money off the back of their reality show fame during the last
decade.

3 We've analysed the wealth the celebrities have – for example, book deals, TV contracts, Instagram collaborations and salaries paid to them from their own companies.

We have not included wealth held in private bank accounts, as we have no access to this information.

4 We have excluded privately held stocks, hedge funds or share portfolios, unless they are a result of reality TV earnings.

5 Land and property is valued on comparable prices for the area, and may not always reflect the exact amount paid.

6 Our valuations are based on our analysis. The actual size of people’s fortunes may differ from our figures as assets can increase or decrease in value.

7 We have not included family wealth, inheritances or trust funds, but have tried to identify who benefits from these.

8 We have consulted managers, agents and publicists, some of whom have guided us on the fees
stars earn from deals.

9 In some cases, PR agents have supplied details of their clients’ wealth, but we have aimed to verify the information given to us and checked its reliability.

No. 25: Amber Davies, 23 -£1.9m UP 4

Her romance with fellow 2017 Love Island winner Kem Cetinay, 24, may have faded, but the dosh has continued to stack up nicely for the West End star.

Just as Covid took hold, she was set to appear with gymnast Louis Smith in a tour of Bring It On: The Musical, but the show was postponed until next autumn.

Having won half of Love Island’s £50k prize, Amber scored a role in the Dolly Parton West End show 9 To 5: The Musical, and ITVBe special Amber & Dolly: 9 To 5, making her £20k.

She won a £50k contract with lingerie brand Boux Avenue, a reported £500k with fashion label Motel, and her own swimwear range with Bluebella. Personal appearances can bring her £5k, and she earns up to £10k for Insta endorsements with Nasty Gal, Look Fantastic and Very.

Amber recently splashed some of her earnings on a new home in Essex, while she also owns a place in her native Wales.

No. 24: Megan Barton-Hanson, 26 – £2M NEW ENTRY

Love Island 2018 finalist Megan hit the jackpot after leaving the villa by notching up a bevy of tantalising deals.

Her first set of accounts filed last August showed assets of £270k, and in March this year, she landed a six-figure deal with Ann Summers as director of the Pleasure Positivity Project.

Megan has also earned a reported £500k as a Pretty Little Thing ambassador, plus £50k for Promoting tanning company Isle of Paradise. She was signed up by Avon to front Stand4Her, its campaign to tackle the barriers traditionally holding women back.

As well as appearances on shows including Celebs Go Dating, Loose Women and This Morning, she has amassed 1.7m Insta followers and can demand up to £5k for endorsing big brands.

Added to this, the bisexual former stripper from Essex charges fans £19 a month to view her steamy Only Fans content, and she’s upped the raunch
factor by collaborating with Lelo, which specialises in “high-quality pleasure objects”.

Single Megan revealed last year that she was writing a tell-all autobiography, spilling the goss on Love Island and rumoured footballer exes including England star Dele Alli.

Publishers were said to be locked in a bidding war for the book, which sources claim ran well into six figures. We can’t wait to read it!

No. 23: Amber Gill, 26 – £2.1M NEW ENTRY

Last year's Love Island winner not only made off with half of the £50k prize, but she reportedly became a millionaire within just six weeks. Her company, ARG Promotions, has not yet filed any accounts, but there’s no denying she’s one of the hottest tickets in Reality Town.

Misspap beat every major fashion and beauty brand to sign her with a £1m offer. Geordie Amber hot-footed it to London and moved into a swish apartment last October.

The former beauty therapist quickly gained an Insta following of 2.8m, and her posts are reckoned to be worth up to £10k a pop, with brands
including Maybelline and Matrix hair products.

Amber has guest starred on Loose Women, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Strictly: It Takes Two.

Though she’s thought to be enjoying single life, she recently admitted receiving an offer of £60k to spend three days in Dubai with a mystery
sugar daddy.

Amber certainly doesn't need any indecent proposals!

This Morning, plus a £75k deal for her autobiography Cross My Heart in 2016.

The following year, Ferne released workout DVD Fit As Ferne, and then received £250k for ITVBe series First Time Mum, which charted her pregnancy journey and has run for a further four series.

But while Ferne hasn’t always had it easy as a single mum to two-year-old daughter Sunday, she has thrown herself into work, and a fashion line for Misspap in summer 2018 is thought to have brought in £200k.

There have also been two beauty ranges with Poundland, and she owns fashion brand Souki Belair with her sister and a stylist pal. With a massive Instagram following of 2.6m, she can receive up to £7k for ad posts for the likes of George at Asda and Beauty Works.

She also landed a new £600k deal with the brand in August. A range with Tatti Lashes earned her another £50k, while she got a similarly shiny pay-out from hair extensions company, Beauty Works.

She’s brought in at least another £100k through her own tanning range, Filter by Molly-Mae, and launched a shoe line with Ego.On Instagram, she can charge £10k for a single post, with brands such as Topshop and Boohoo working with her.

In fact, she’s doing so well that she could even afford to reject £350k and an £80k Range Rover offered for a collaboration with Missguided last year. Tommy's boxing and modelling career meant he was worth £120k even before Love Island.

Since the show, he has pulled in around £300k from partnerships, including Boohoo Man.With the pair also able to charge up to £10k for joint appearances, they can enjoy luxury holidays and designer gear.

And after winning I’m A Celeb! in 2015 – for which she reportedly snared £250k – she also spent nine months as a regular Loose Women panellist in 2016, and has more recently cropped up on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

No. 17: Amy Childs, 30 – £3.3M UP 6

pregnancy fitness app.

Her victory on GBBO in 2015 led to a tasty BBC deal to front programmes including current offering Nadiya Bakes, plus The Chronicles Of Nadiya, Nadiya’s British Food Adventure, Nadiya’s Family Favourites and Nadiya’s Time To Eat, which also streamed on Netflix.

She’s a regular reporter on The One Show, and in 2019 filmed BBC1 documentary Anxiety And Me, while another two-part doc, Nadiya's American Melting Pot, is due later this year.

The icing on the cake comes from her books, and to date she has released 15. She also has a homeware collection with Bliss Home, which whipped up around £250k, plus a new partnership with Wilton Bradley for a range of kids’ cooking and baking sets.

The mum of three, who lives in Milton Keynes, reportedly earned six figures as a brand ambassador for Swarovski.

Her accounts showed assets of £225k in 2019 and her value as an Instagrammer is estimated at £3k per post.

No. 15: Lucy Mecklenburgh, 29 – £3.75M UP 6

With TOWIE proving the springboard for yet another multimillion-pound career, Lucy quit the show in 2013 after three years to become a “fitfluencer”.

Her online Results Wellness Lifestyle business now has 1,000 workouts and more than 250,000 sign-ups, and its accounts showed assets of £185k
in 2019 – up from £55k the previous year.

Meanwhile, a second company in her name posted assets of £206k this year, up from £125k in 2019. However, it’s not all been plain sailing, and she resigned as director of her clothing business Lucy’s Boutique in January, two months after it posted debts of almost £270k.

But her property investments remain strong, with two buy-to-let apartments in Essex and the £1.5m home she shares with former Corrie actor and fiancé Ryan Thomas, 36, and their seven-month-old son Roman.

Signed to Select Model Management, Lucy has banked much of her
money through high-profile modelling contracts, clearing hefty deals with the likes of Ellesse and By Caprice.

She has also partnered with brands such as Pretty Little Thing, Olay, Champneys and Barry M, penned health bible Be Body Beautiful in 2015, and can pull in around £7k for posts that reach her 1.7m Insta followers.

No. 14: Megan McKenna, 28 – £3.8M UP 10

After cruising to victory in The X Factor: Celebrity last December, the former Ex On The Beach star turned TOWIE regular turned singer has seen her net worth soar by up to £750k.

In August, she unveiled a six-figure clothing line for In The Style, which followed the launch of a similarly lucrative lingerie range for Boux Avenue.

And despite Covid-19 curtailing her planned live gigs, including a
support slot with Lionel Richie, Megan currently has several major record firms fighting to sign her, poised to bring in £500k.

Her debut single High Heeled Shoes stormed to No.1 in the iTunes chart in
2017, out-selling Taylor Swift. The following year, her first album The Story Of Me also topped the iTunes Country Music Chart, and her 2018 autobiography Mouthy was a bestseller.

Other deals have come via a Mouthy cosmetics range, collections with Misspap and Little Mistress, worth £500k, plus a clip-in hair range with Easilocks.

She can earn up to £6k for posts on Instagram, where her timeline often has snaps of her £1m Essex home, complete with hot tub, white marble floors and designer closet.

No. 13: Billie Shepherd, 30, £4.6M UP 6

Billie’s current assets are listed as £756k, spread across four companies – but this only tells a fraction of the story.Like sister Sam, last year she bagged £250k for each new series of ITVBe’s The Mummy Diaries, which co-stars her children Nelly, six, and Arthur, three, and businessman husband Greg, 34.

The family recently received planning permission to build a brand-new £1.4m home in Brentwood, with a bespoke kitchen, gym and games room, plus extensive landscaped gardens.

Billie is fast catching up with her big sister’s earning power in the fashion stakes, too, and in the summer she released swimwear and clothing collections for In The Style, who signed her up as an ambassador in
2015 for a sizzling £500k.

She also runs online shop Minnies Boutique and to date has released six
collections of kids’ and baby clothes and homewares through George at Asda.

Her My Babiie range of pushchairs and prams is another major money-spinner, available at multiple stockists including Boots, Argos and Mothercare.

With an impressive 2.2m followers on Instagram, she can also earn £5k for partnerships with brands such as New Look and Shabby Store, plus kids’ toy labels like VIP Pets and Hasbro. A rumoured spin on the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice could boost her coffers even more.

No. 12: Gemma Collins, 39 – £4.7M UP 8

The GC was gutted when Covid-19 scuppered the second run of her Diva Forever series, but quick-thinking ITVBe swiftly reinvented the show as Diva On Lockdown. The newly slimline TOWIE star then reportedly struck a £250k deal for a third series, due this autumn.

In February, Gemma was banned from being director of her three companies until 2023 because of an unpaid £70k tax bill, but her finances haven’t suffered, especially after she recently signed a £500k deal for a new curve collection with In The Style.

With those deals boosting last year’s earnings by nearly £1m, she
continues to rake it in through her plus-sized Gemma Collins Collection, sold via her website as well as through Evans, Simply Be and Boohoo.

Since joining TOWIE in 2011, she’s earned £100k apiece on Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Big Brother, plus £200k for Celebs Go Dating and more six-figurepayouts for Celebrity MasterChef, I’m A Celeb! and Splash!

She also bagged £200k for her Diva España series. The GC: How To Be A Diva was published two years ago, as well as her 2013
autobiography Basically… My Life As A Real Essex Girl, a combo that lined her pockets with at least £100k.

Plus each of her branded Insta posts is thought to be worth around £4k. Take that, Arg.

No. 11: James Arthur, 32 – £4.8M UP 5

It’s been a mixed year for the singer, who had to cancel money-making European concerts in the new year due to illness, and then postpone his 21-date US summer tour because of Covid.

But the 2012 X Factor winner is well used to taking the ups with the downs. He kicked off his career with a £1m recording contract and became the show’s fastest-selling champ, before being dropped in 2014 amid a homophobic lyrics scandal.

James clawed it back, and after his second album Back From The Edge topped the charts in 2016, he was re-signed by Syco.

He also hit 1 billion streams on Spotify with the 2016 song Say You Won't Let Go. He remains at the helm of two separate companies under the name of Raff Music, which in 2019 showed combined assets of almost £1.3m.

Although this appears to be down on the previous year by nearly £1m, his overall net worth remains around the same, and he’s even managed to climb a few spots in the list.

Last month, Lewis Capaldi picked him to sing on Sigala’s latest track, Lasting Lover, and he’s working on a new album, due out next year. No wonder he’s nabbed a £1m London home.

No. 10: Gaz Beadle, 32 – £4.9M UP 7

The dad of two has got a growing property portfolio and he owns the Pure beach club in Zante.

He’s also co-owner of 11 Degrees clothing range, which was valued at £1.85m last year. Gary Beadle Promotions posted a net worth of £675k last year.

He makes money from a fat-loss scheme under the name of Smart Nutrition, which is part of the Herbalife empire.

He joined Geordie Shore in 2011 and stayed until 2017, then filmed two series of Ex On The Beach and Hell’s Kitchen Australia.

Last year he joined the cast of Geordie OGs for a rumoured six figures.

With 3.6m Instagram followers, he can earn up to £10k for brand posts with Hey Silky Skin, and similar for PAs.

No. 9: Olivia, 26, & Alex Bowen, 29 – £5M UP 9

Love Island’s first Mr and Mrs appeared in the second series in 2016, and their worth has climbed at least £500k in the past year. While accounts for their four companies posted assets of £346k in 2019,
it was recently claimed that Olivia can earn up to £16k per Instagram ad, easily equating to six figures every month.

She’s an ambassador for brands including W7, Skin Republic, Batiste and Eleventh Hour Beauty, and earns a fair whack through posts for the likes of Boux Avenue and Missy Empire.

She’s also brought in around £200k through fashion tie-ins with Rocky Star, Misspap and a partnership with In The Style in March.

Since leaving the show, Alex has landed modelling work with Boohoo Man, Hype and Gym King in deals thought to be worth around £200k, while it's reckoned he banked more than £700k from a nightclub tour.

The pair have become at least £200k richer through TV work, including last year’s Olivia & Alex: Happily Ever After.

The couple’s fashion label, Exempt Society, is expected to earn them £950k by 2022, and their five separate Insta feeds have amassed millions of followers, with Alex teaming up with brands such as Amazon, ASOS Man and Carling.

They've moved into a £1m home in Essex, where they've installed a marble kitchen, his ’n’ hers dressing rooms and a cinema room.

No. 8: Tommy Mallet, 28 – £5.4M UP 7

Tommy may have left school at 16 without a single GCSE, but his trainer company Mallet’s assets were registered as £2.4m in 2019, up a thumping £1.4m from the previous year.

With his range reportedly now out-selling Michael Kors, Tommy admitted in a YouTube video in August that he plans for the company to rival Nike. The business first came about a year after he joined TOWIE in.

The trainers and a range of casual clothing are now stocked across Europe, including high-end retailers Selfridges and Harrods. David Beckham, Drake and Craig David are all said to be fans of the ultra-cool kicks, which typically cost between £150 and £195.

The footwear made its debut at Paris Fashion Week last year and has been showcased at London Fashion Week. But while Tommy could earn up to £3k for branded Insta shout-outs, he instead chooses to use his accounts to showcase his shoe designs, as well as photos of his glitzy lifestyle.

In September, he bought a new Essex mansion, which is having a major makeover before he and ex-TOWIE star girlfriend Georgia Kousoulou, 29,
move in.

Tommy has a charitable side, too, and in January he announced that he would donate a day’s worth of company profits to the Australian bushfire appeal, saying: “Man made the money, money never made the man – never forget that.”Wise words, Tommy!

No.7: Rylan Clark-Neal, 31 – £6.3M UP 7

Everything the former X Factor star touches appears to turn to gold: his company Rylan Ltd shows current assets of £1.4m – up £800k on last year.

Rylan is barely off the box these days, appearing in shows including Ready Steady Cook, You Are What You Wear and Celebrity Gogglebox with mum
Linda, as well as E4’s Big Brother nostalgia-fest back in June.

Then there’s his reprisal of TV classic Supermarket Sweep, which has been such a hit that it moved from ITV2 to the main channel.

He’s Zoe Ball’s co-presenter on Strictly: It Takes Two, for which he reportedly earns £200k, is a stand-in presenter on This Morning and has his own show on Radio 2. Rylan’s finest hour came in 2013, when he won Celebrity Big Brother – and a fat cheque for £250k.

Outside of TV and radio, he owns plush home fragrance line Luxenoa, available on QVC, which this year showed a net worth of £68k compared to just £1 in 2019.As well as being a keen investor, he has begun attracting big brand deals, collecting up to £3k for Insta posts with the likes of Flora, Just Eat and Wren Kitchens.

Rylan certainly has a taste for interiors – he and husband Dan, 39, plus stepson Cameron, 20, live in a lavish £1m home in Essex, which boasts five bedrooms, a Big-Brother-style diary room, pamper room, nail bar and gym. Oh my gawwwd!

No. 6: Joey Essex, 30 – £6.9M UP 7

Despite only doing TOWIE for two years from 2011, Joey has been one of its most successful stars. He returned in August to film the show’s 10-year anniversary series and also appeared on MTV’s Ex On The Beach in January and C4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in April.

He’s currently filming a BBC doc about his mother Tina’s suicide in 2001, when he was just 10. Although TOWIE launched his career, that was mere pocket money; he got a whopping £250k for risking life and limb on The Jump in 2015 – the highest fee in the show’s history – plus £60k for I’m A Celeb! in 2013.

He also schmoozed through Celebs Go Dating and Five Star Hotel, and took part in Splash!, Educating Joey Essex and last year’s Celebrity MasterChef.

Accounts for Joey Essex Management Ltd showed assets of £570k in February, thanks to profits from fragrances, a haircare range, his autobiography Being Reem, plus singles and an Essex Anthems album.

Branded Insta posts can net him £4.5k a time, and partnerships with the likes of McDonald's and Jaffa Cakes have also raked in six figures. He’s said to charge up to £50k for each PA, and last year, Joey and pal Tom Pearce launched a superfood tea, Chaga Cha, which was expected to make £50k in its first year.

Joey’s love life regularly makes headlines too, and he’s currently dating Brazilian model Brenda Santos, 25, and owns a £1.7m Chigwell home, dubbed Joey’s Jungle Paradise. Talk about keeping it reem!

No. 5: Ollie Locke, 33 – £7M UP 7

He claimed in March that he only returned to this year’s 19th Made In Chelsea series to keep up the mortgage payments on his £1.6m London home.

Sadly for Ollie, his plan was somewhat disrupted by Covid, as filming for half of the run was pushed back to August. He’s still worth a mint, though, thanks to super-shrewd investment and property assets.

Following his MIC debut in 2011, Ollie appeared in 2014’s Celebrity Big Brother for a rumoured £100k, while he memorably lanced a croc in
The Island With Bear Grylls in 2016.

He then hooked £200k while seeking lurve on Celebs Go Dating in 2018, and found love in real life with his fiancé of two years, business consultant Gareth Locke, 30, soon after.

The pair announced their engagement in September 2018. Ollie set up gay dating app Chappy in 2017, but he cashed out a year later for around £1m.

Meanwhile, he can command up to £2k for sponsored Insta posts, and earned six figures for his bestselling autobiography Laid In Chelsea and children’s novel The Islands Of Fandye. He also appeared in film Greed alongside Isla Fisher and Steve Coogan.

No. 4: Samantha Faiers, 29 – £9.8M UP 7

Savvy Sam has at least £1m more in the kitty this year, and 2020 got off to a sweet start when she landed £500k to become the face of Oreo cookies.

She also runs fashion outlet Saint Avenue with partner Paul Knightley, 32, which posted assets of £182k in 2019. Her baby clothing range My Little Darlin is turning a tidy profit, too.

Last year, ITVBe offered Sam and sister Billie Shepherd £250k each
per new series of The Mummy Diaries, with the girls making another £150k each from the show's sponsor, Carex. Off the box, she’s earned £750k from three bestselling books.

As well as a bumper £250k deal with Pampers, she launched her Dreamiie pushchair and baby range through Mothercare, Amazon and Argos, and brands happily shell out up to £9k per sponsored Insta post. Sam’s first perfume outsold 1D’s, and she’s also launched eyelash, self-tan and hair ranges.

Last month she ploughed in £350k of her own money to establish skincare brand Revive Collagen, while her homeware line fetches £1m annually and is one of Next’s bestselling ranges. Then there’s her new children’s bedding and homeware collection, Little Knightleys – named after her children – which sold out twice in August.

Her kids even have a range at River Island worth £150k, and Sam’s fashion collections with Quiz bring in £275k a year. She also has several buy-to-let properties in Essex, and a long-term deal with meal-delivery service Hello Fresh. Plus, she recently landed a rumoured six-figure deal with Dyson. Phew!

No. 3: Mark Wright, 33 – £11M UP 7

Mark’s net worth has leapt £2m this year, thanks in part to his property portfolio, having converted an Essex mansion into six two-bed flats, worth £5m in all.

He reportedly also made £1.1m profit through his company, Chigwell Properties Ltd, after converting another home into four houses in 2018. The keen developer has demolished a £1.3m farmhouse in Essex, where he and actress wife Michelle Keegan, 33, plan to build their dream home.

The couple are set to launch fashion label Mysa Active soon, while Mark set up an online workout business, Train Wright, in May, which is expected to be a huge success. Though still in their infancy, both firms are set to bring in big bucks.

After starting his career on TOWIE in 2010, where he stayed for just over a year, Mark was runner-up on I'm A Celeb! in 2011, came fourth on Strictly in 2014 and has hosted Take Me Out: The Gossip, This Morning and
Mark Wright's Hollywood Nights.

In 2017, he earned a small fortune interviewing A-listers including Kim Kardashian on US show Extra in LA. However, two years away from Our Girl star Michelle was enough, and he returned to the UK last February, landing a gig on Channel 5’s The Bachelor, plus his Heart Radio show on Saturdays, which alone is worth £150k a year.

Further cash rolls in from DJ gigs at £10k a pop, and his agency The Wright Look Models Ltd showed assets of £1.2m in 2019. And let’s not forget his deals with Umbro, Littlewoods and Matalan – nor the fact that branded Insta posts can fetch £4.5k.

The boy has most certainly done good.

No. 2: Spencer Matthews, 32 – £21M UP 7

He may be Eton-educated and from a wealthy family, but Spencer has upped his own worth by a staggering £10m in the past year.

This is largely due to blow-the-budget but canny property investments, plus his role as founder and CEO of The Clean Liquor Co – one of the UK’s fastest-

Nine years on from winning The X Factor in 2011, each of the girls is worth roughly £12.5m, thanks to five hit albums and a sixth ready to drop, plus a stream of bank- busting endorsements.

The fab four have put their names to everything from Gold Magic perfume,
Schwarzkopf hair dye, Collection makeup and Elegant Touch false nails, while they’ve also had a kids’ clothing range at Primark, sportswear for USA Pro and a Pretty Little Thing range.

Last September they embarked on a world tour that raked in £30m profits, and their flourishing TV careers have seen them front Little Mix: The Search, a seven-episode hunt to find the next big thing, which started
on BBC1 last week.

Last year, Jesy made the award-winning documentary Odd One Out, and in
August it was announced that Leigh-Anne is to make another BBC doc about racism.Other solo projects have included Leigh-Anne’s swimwear label and songwriting ventures with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, while Jade was on the panel of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK last year.

Their company, Eternal Dance Media Ltd, launched in 2011 to handle their music, merchandise and earnings, and has assets of £4.3m. Another company, Eternal Magic Touring Ltd had assets of £1.6m in 2019 and paid each band member dividends of £6.6m in 2018.

The girls, who have all bought homes for their mums, are said to have splashed £10m on property. Perrie lives with Liverpool footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 27, in Surrey, and Leigh-Anne lives nearby with Watford footie star fiancé Andre Gray, 29.

Jesy has a ritzy home in Essex, while Jade owns a £2m apartment in London. It’s estimated the group can earn up to £30k for a branded Insta post, too. Way to go, girls!
