Expert predicts King Charles will ‘wear two crowns’ at his Coronation

Royal fans are starting to make predictions about what will happen on the day of King Charles’s Coronation, which is just over a month away. The King’s go-to accessories for the big day have been predicted by fashion experts from men’s accessories and jewellery company, Trendhim, based on his most popular items worn at royal events.

Throughout his time as the Prince of Wales, Charles consistently served as an English fashion role model, dressing in trench coats, suits, pricey jewellery, and the occasional pair of shorts.

Malte Köhn, a fashion specialist and Creative Lead at Trendhim has predicted King Charles’s accessories at the Coronation for Express.co.uk.

St Edward’s Crown & The Imperial State Crown

Malte said: “The King is expected to wear two crowns at different points during the day.

“The St Edward’s Crown is only expected to be worn at the pivotal moment of the actual crowning, whereas the Imperial State Crown is worn for after the Coronation ceremony and when the monarch appears before the public on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.”

Leather Strap Watch

Malte continued: “King Charles’s go-to watch is the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph in yellow gold.

“This black leather watch is classic, formal and could be a feature on the day of his coronation.

“It’s a symbol of prestige, but also highlights the King’s passion for sustainability.

“He has been wearing the watch since 1996 and often wears it to big occasions such as the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.”

Signet Ring

The fashion expert commented: “Worn at many royal events, King Charles III is often seen with his favourite gold signet ring on his left pinkie finger.

“The King has been wearing this ring as far back as the 70s and there is a significant reason as to why he wears it.

“The original ring is engraved with the Prince of Wales symbol, which could mean he’ll hand it down to his son, Prince William, for the ceremony too.”

The Prince of Wales and Prince George, nine, are both expected to make significant appearances during the Coronation as the future two Kings.

The Coronation Ring

Malte suggested: “To pair alongside his signet ring, the King will likely wear the Coronation Ring.

“The ring will be placed on his fourth finger to represent the ‘wedding’ of the sovereign to the people.

“The ring features a Ruby cross over blue stone, which could symbolise the Union Jack.”

According to reports, the King has been urged to select a more contemporary outfit for his Coronation in May.

He will likely dress in a more casual and understated manner, breaking with previous royal customs.

Previous Kings and Queens have historically worn silk breeches and stockings during rituals.

However, King Charles will likely opt to don his military uniform. This is because a military outfit has been seen as a more contemporary and casual option for the monarch.

In addition, attendees will be allowed to don lounge suits or morning suits rather than expensive ceremonial robes made of crimson velvet and ermine, like they did for the 1953 Coronation.
