clothsurgeon, aka Rav Matharu, is known for his reworked and upcycled garment production, and now the designer has released a one-of-a-kind short collared jacket that is made from a Prada nylon backpack.

The ’90s accessory was crafted in Italy and became a style icon that still stands to this day as an iconic Prada piece. Its utilitarian aesthetic is complete with buckles, straps, pockets, and the signature enameled triangle plaque logo, which defined Prada in the ’90s, and today, it defines this custom-made jacket.

clothsurgeon produced the piece under the RECONSTRUCTED PROJECT, which has previously seen the designer produce a tracksuit from a Supreme x The North Face tent, as well as pieces from Nike’s Space Hippie collection. This Prada-infused jacket, however, taps Matharu’s Saville Row discipline, as it incorporates luxurious black wool suiting into its design alongside original — and functional — Prada nylon backpack components.

The main flap on the bag is now the jacket’s left utility-inspired chest pocket, while smaller pockets appear tiered on the right side. Buckles now function as side cinch adjusters, while the bags lining and authentication card add internal details to the jacket. The bag’s straps now add further detail to the cuffs, while the drawstrings have been neatly added underneath the collar. Lastly, the incorporation of distressed Saffiano leather — Prada’s signature grain — gives the jacket an overall vintage and used feel.
