Bride-to-be slammed for altering her own wedding dress – and people say it 'looks like the bottom got stuck it a lawn mower'

IT'S the most important piece of clothing you'll ever own so it's only natural that most brides go for multiple wedding dress fittings ahead of their big day.

However, one bride-to-be decided to cut out the middle man by altering her gown herself – and the results are nothing short of disastrous.

Owning up to her catastrophic error in judgement online, the bride posted before and after photos on the Facebook group That's It, I'm Wedding Shaming.

Unsure whether to laugh or cry, the woman joked: "Bought a pretty second hand dress and completely destroyed it."

The strapless silk ivory dress originally featured a short train and had shimmery gold detail running down to the bottom.

But for reasons we can't understand, the woman thought it would be a good idea to turn the floor-length frock into a knee-length mini dress without consulting a professional first.

Unfortunately her design didn't quite go to plan – leaving the bride with a wonky hem and a lopsided train.

Needless to say, the group's 4,000 members were quick to call her out for the fashion fail.

Commenting on the shoddy hemline, one wrote: "Looks like the bottom of it got stuck in a lawn mower."

"It looks like when your mom tries to cut your hair," another added.

Meanwhile, a third said the bride's mission "was doomed" from the start.

So let this be a lesson to us all to never scrimp out on alterations.
