Zachary Quinto defends Kim Kardashian's American Horror Story casting

When it was announced that Kim Kardashian would be starring in American Horror Story it was a little bit of a shock for some fans, but Zachary Quinto has praised the reality star for her acting skills.

Kim, 42, is taking her role seriously, and has even undergone lessons ahead of starring in the horror anthology series and her hard work is paying off according to Star Trek actor Zachary, 46.

While making a cameo in the show that centres on different spooky characters and locations, ranging from a witch coven to a possessed farmhouse, Zachary was able to meet Kim.

‘She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don’t think she needs my advice,’ he enthused.

He sweetly added to People: ‘She seemed really in her element, and I was really impressed by her spirit and her openness.

‘I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she’s gonna do a wonderful job.’

One of the show’s creators Ryan Murphy, 57, has previously spoken on what we can expect from Kim when she stars opposite returning actress Emma Roberts in the 12th series.

Audiences can get ready for a ‘fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role’ that was written ‘especially for Kim.’

‘This season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done,’ he teased to The Hollywood Reporter.

The episodes will take some inspiration from Delicate Condition – an upcoming novel by Danielle Valentine that follows a woman convinced somebody is preventing her pregnancy.

This will be Kim’s biggest role so far, but she has previously had cameos in Disaster Movie,  Paw Patrol and CSI: NY.

Not everyone is as enthusiastic as Zachary about her casting.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Patti LuPone, 74 – who played Joan Ramsey in four episodes of the thriller – whether she cared about the famous reality star’s cameo.

‘Yes! I do!’ she exclaimed.

‘You don’t like it, do you?’ Andy asked. ‘No I don’t!’ Patti replied. 

‘Why, because she’s taking a role away from,’ Andy began before Patti said, ‘actors.’ 

American Horror Story is available to stream on Disney Plus.
