Whoopi Goldberg livid after The View co-star accuses her of farting on set

Whoopi Goldberg was left red-faced after being accused by her co-star on The View, Sunny Hostin, of breaking wind on set.

What a story.

The Ghost actress was reportedly livid after Sunny named her as the person who ‘passes the most gas on set’ during an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last month.

Whoopi, 67, did not see the funny side of Sunny’s comment, with the star revealing the Sister Act actress had confronted her to ask: ‘Why did you tell everybody I fart all the time?’

To which Sunny replied: ‘Because you joke about farting all the time and I’m across from [you on the] table.’

‘She said “Thanks a lot,” but Whoopi and I are very close, so she was okay’ – however she admitted Whoopi ‘didn’t like it.’

Sunny, 54, insisted she could never smell passed gas, and in her opinion ‘whoever smelt it dealt it’ – so when Whoopi owned up to the noises she took it at face value.

And, she now says, there is no actual windbreaker on set – supposedly it’s the mugs they use to drink coffee that makes the suspect noise.

Sunny again took to Andy Cohen Live to, ahem, clear the air around it all, and said they had recently got new coasters for their mugs – as before that, the cups would make a squeaking noise whenever they were moved on the table.

Fans had previously taken to social media to insist they could hear farting noises during the chat show, and Sunny claims this is what they were actually hearing.

Whoopi had joked at the time that it was her – but it wasn’t apparent to everyone that she was joking, leading to this absolute mess.

The US chat show regularly sees bizarre moments on the set, including Whoopi expertly dealing with a heckler in the audience earlier this year.

As the panel took their seats, Whoopi began to introduce the show but stopped suddenly, before asking an audience member incredulously: ‘Did you just call me an old broad?’

The camera then cut to a woman wearing a large fur hat, as the panel – and the audience – burst into laughter.

Whoopi, taking it in her stride, shrugged as she said: ‘She said, “You old broad,” and I was like, hey, it’s Wednesday, and I am an old broad, and happy about it.’

She added that it was ‘better than the alternative’ – of not getting to grow old at all.
