Warzone 2.0 delays promised combat records the same day season 1 begins

12/14/2022

Just ahead of season 1’s launch, it’s been revealed that a stat tracking feature for Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 won’t be included as promised.

The first season of Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is scheduled to go live on Wednesday and it seems Activision and Infinity Ward have already managed to earn fans’ ire for how it’s being handled.

Earlier this week, they confirmed that combat records – a feature that tracks player statistics – would be added with season 1 but would overwrite all your current statistics.

That alone was enough to annoy those who’ve been playing regularly since Warzone 2.0’s launch last month. Now, though, Infinity Ward has admitted that the combat records feature won’t debut this season after all.

The news dropped in the early hours of the morning, claiming that ‘the accuracy of the data population’ is the reason for the delay. This suggests that Infinity Ward has been having trouble obtaining accurate player information.

No new release date was suggested, so there’s no telling if the feature will be sorted during season 1 or if players need to wait until season 2 or later.

All Infinity Ward says is that it’s continuing to work on the feature and the implementation of leaderboards. Season 1 will still launch as intended on Wednesday afternoon at 6pm GMT.

Given this sort of feature has usually been a standard for multiplayer games like Call Of Duty, and the news was shared the same day as season 1’s launch, fans are unsurprisingly not thrilled.

The majority of the Twitter responses and this Reddit thread are full of complaints and demands for Warzone 2.0 to be fixed in general, with more than a few accusing the game of still being in beta or otherwise ‘incomplete.’

Depending on who you ask, however, Warzone 2.0 as a whole remains a buggy mess. The ChadKaboom on Twitter claims: ‘They haven’t done a thing in this game yet. Still dev errors, scan and repair/crashes. Still has stutter lag, all the issues except the friends list bug are still around.’

As for what will be included with season 1, Activision is adding a new mode that’s essentially a Call Of Duty version of Rocket League, as well as footballers Neymar Jr, Paul Pogba, and Lionel Messi as playable characters.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, meanwhile, is receiving the first of a series of new raids that continues the story of the game’s campaign mode.

Call Of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
