Get your tissues ready! A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood trailer with Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers is here, and we’re very emotional. The two-time Oscar winning actor plays the esteemed and beloved Pittsburgh children’s show host, Fred McFeely Rogers. Rogers, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 74, hosted Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood from 1968 to 2001. The film is directed by Marielle Heller and is poised to bring audiences to tears.

Mr. Rogers is remembered and credited for his radical approach to childhood development. The Mister Roger’s Neighborhood host believed children deserved the same respect to their emotional intelligence as adults. His approach was nuanced, kind and lead with love. Now, a pivotal point in the figure’s life is being brought to the big screen, and we’re already crying over the trailer.

The film is based on the true story of the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod, according to IMDb. There are already a slew of memorable moments from the trailer. In one exchange, Junod (played by Emmy-winning The Americans star, Matthew Rhys) says, “You love broken people like me.” Wholly encompassing the kindness of Mr. Rogers, Tom Hanks’s rendition of Mr. Rogers responds, “Sometimes we have to ask for help, and that’s OK… I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious.”

The film’s tagline is perfect for the real-life subject Heller and the creative team captured: “It only takes one person to inspire a world of kindness.” Honestly, we can’t think of a better actor than Hanks to play the role, with a story needed now more than ever. “We are trying to give the world positive ways of dealing with their feelings,” Rogers says in a different scene in the trailer. And just like that, we’re out of tissues.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood hits theaters November 22.
