This clever Easter Egg in The Boys links the smash-hit show to Supernatural

Amazon scored superhero success with their adaptation of The Boys late last month, and there’s little doubt that fans of the new show will be going back for repeat viewings in the weeks and months to come.

The TV take on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic of the same name, which counts Superbad duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg among its executive producers, satirically imagines a world where flawed superheroes band together to take on their corrupt brethren.

A second season has already been commissioned by Amazon, but for those of you eagerly awaiting new episodes, it may be worth your while to go back and re-watch season one again to pick up on anything you might have missed.

One such thing you may have skimmed over is the subtle link between The Boys and co-creator and executive producer Eric Kripke’s other hit TV series, Supernatural.

In The Boys’ season one finale You Found Me, Vought Senior Vice President Madelyn Stillwell meets with Secretary of Defense Robert Singer to talk superhero terrorism (a terrifying concept, we have to say).

The name of the Secretary of Defense, played by Jim Beaver, is likely to have rung a bell with fans of Supernatural – especially as Beaver plays Bobby Singer, the father figure to Sam and Dean Winchester, on Supernatural.

Wait: Robert Singer on The Boys and Bobby Singer on Supernatural? We’ve just found an Easter Egg, people.

Beaver will return for The Boys’ second season, according to Kripke – so expect more delicious Easter Eggs whenever the show returns to Amazon.

The Boys is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
