The Sims 4 fans are not happy about kits and the new roadmap

The promise of more bite-sized DLC for The Sims 4 has annoyed players who’d much rather see the return of meatier stuff packs.

Work may have begun on The Sims 5 (or Project Rene as it’s called), but EA has made it quite clear that The Sims 4 still has plenty of life left in it.

The game has seen some substantial updates and DLC recently, including a very popular infant update, and the new roadmap is already teasing the next couple of months of content.

However, it appears the news has opened old wounds within The Sims community as it’s promising more kits, which are an unpopular substitute for stuff packs.

For context, stuff packs and kits are fundamentally the same thing – paid DLC that add new content to the game. The key difference is that kits are much, much smaller and cost £4.99 each whereas stuff packs cost £8.99 each and usually have more in them.

The problem fans have with the kits is that they’re too small, containing a slim selection of basic assets which don’t affect gameplay, like kitchen cabinets and hoovers, that fans argue should be added to the game for free.

Plus, anyone looking for a complete set is still paying a pretty penny. At the time of writing, there are 19 kits, which altogether is almost £95 worth of DLC.

Not all of them have the same number of items either. The Bust The Dust kit comes with just five items, compared to something like the Little Campers kit, which has 25 items – yet they’re both the same size.

So, with EA advertising four new kits and a ‘hot update’ throughout April to June, a number of fans are taking umbrage with how they’ve supposedly supplanted the meatier stuff packs.

There are some who aren’t as bothered, although even fans of the kits are asking for an update that would filter them separately, so their contents aren’t all mixed in together.

The Sims 4 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

You guys said kits wouldn’t replace stuff packs?! We haven’t had one single one since. Very disappointing. Being back stuff packs!
