A shocking animation has revealed how Jeremy Renner was almost ‘crushed to death’ during the snow plough accident that left him hospitalised.

The Hawkeye actor was airlifted to hospital on New Year’s Day after breaking more than 30 bones when he was hit by and ‘pulled under’ the vehicle.

It was later revealed the 52-year-old was trying to save his nephew from getting hit when he was involved in the horror accident.

In a new interview with Diane Sawyer, the Marvel star has said he has no regrets over the accident, and would do it again to save his nephew.

He spoke about being ‘awake for every moment of the crash’ and that although he is ‘triggered’ by memories of the accident, he refuses to be ‘haunted’.

In an animated reconstruction during the interview, it is seen how Renner fell in front of the snow plough, as he explains how the accident occured.

In quotes obtained by Mail Online, he explains that his nephew was trying to clear the road outside the house so that the family could go skiing, which led to Renner using a snow plough to move a pickup truck.

The plough then began to skid, he went on to say, but at the time, Renner was concerned about his nephew who he couldn’t see, so he leant out of the snow plough, saying that it was ‘like driving a car with your foot outside the car’.

He then fell on the snow, and was unable to get back into the plough while the tyres were still moving, and he was caught underneath.

In the interview, he said: ‘I would do it again.’

‘I refuse to have that be a trauma and it be a negative experience. That is a man I’m proud of because I wouldn’t let that happen to my nephew.

‘So shift the narrative of being victimised or making a mistake or anything else. I refuse to be f**king haunted by that memory that way.’

The actor revealed he believed he was close to death, and even wrote down what he believed could be his last words as he was in hospital, pleading with them not to ‘let me live on tubes on a machine … on drugs and painkillers, just let me go now.’

Jeremy suffered eight broken ribs in the incident and revealed that his lung collapsed after being pierced by a bone.

He also broke his right knee and both ankles, as well as suffering damage to his eye socket, jaw and shoulder.

Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph aired on ABC on Thursday.
