Russell Brand to be investigated by Jimmy Savile cops

A police unit that was set up following the Jimmy Savile scandal is now helping in the investigation of Russell Brand.

The Hydrant Programme, previously Operation Hydrant, was originally established in 2014 to coordinate the response to non-recent sexual abuse and has now confirmed their officers will be supporting the Met Police with inquiries.

A spokesman for the operation said: ‘We are working with the Metropolitan Police in support of their response to recent allegations, and would urge any victim or survivor who feels ready to report any allegations of sexual assault to come forward and speak to officers.’

This comes after the comedian and actor was the subject of Channel 4 and The Times’ collaborative Dispatches episode on Saturday night in which he faced allegations of rape, sexual assault, and controlling and emotionally abusive behaviour from multiple women, one of who claims she was 16 years old at the time.

Brand, 48, has called the allegations false and labelled them a ‘coordinated attack’ by the mainstream media to try and ‘control’ his voice.

Another woman has since come forward, alleging that Brand pinned her down and got a ‘glazed look’ in his eye, something alleged by several women in the investigation, as he allegedly told her: ‘This is what you’re here for.’

Part of the exposé by The Times alleges a shocking claim that Brand offered an employee to disgraced presenter Savile.

Sources claim that Brand rung Savile in 2007 and was told they could meet if Brand brought a sister.

Instead, Brand allegedly offered to bring a female employee who would be naked, as per Savile’s request.

The publication claims he said: ‘I’ve got a personal assistant, and part of her job description is that anyone I demand she greet, meet, massages, she has to do it. She’s very attractive, Jimmy.’

Savile died in 2011 aged 84, before his prolific crimes as a child sex abuser and sex offender came to light.

More than 450 horrifying allegations were brought forward to the police following his death.
