No Shame in Their Game! These Stars Keep It Real About Their Vibrators and Sex Toys

11/13/2019

At last, we’re living in an age where celebs have broken through taboos to discuss intimate topics freely, in a way that makes a meaningful difference in the cultural conversation. Think, for instance, Chrissy Teigen discussing her IVF and postpartum depression, and Hilaria Baldwin speaking freely about her multiple miscarriages. While talking about masturbating doesn’t quite rise to the same level of importance as far as breaking down harmful women’s health stigmas — but it does open up a taboo topic in a way that empowers women to speak (and live) their truths!

And that’s something we can definitely get down with. Plus, hearing these women openly discuss their sex toys and vibrators make us love them even more.

Here’s what Eva Longoria, Lady Gaga, Maggie Gyllenhall, Jane Fonda and other celebs have said about their favorite playthings.

Eva Longoria

There’s definitely no shame in Eva Longoria’s game — in fact, she told Self, the only shame is that she didn’t get turned on to sex toys earlier. “I didn’t begin enjoying sex until I started masturbating. Before that, I really wasn’t sexual. I bought my first vibrator three years ago,” she told the mag back in 2005. “It’s a shame I didn’t discover it sooner. Now I give Rabbit vibrators to all my girlfriends. They scream when they unwrap it. The best gift I can give them is an orgasm.” (She ain’t lying — that beats a scented candle any day.)

Lady Gaga

“I am single and a workaholic and very lonely, but I’m good,” she said. “Me and my vibrator are very happy,” Gaga said candidly when chatting The Sun in 2009.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

When promoting her then-new romantic comedy Hysteria back in 2011 — a movie about the invention of the first electric vibrator in the 1880s —  Maggie Gyllenhaal talked openly about her personal use of the device… not to mention her willingness to share the love. “By the time I finished the movie I’d been sent maybe 15 vibrators by different people in London with vibrator stores. It was a pleasant surprise,” she said, according to Reuters. “So I have this incredible collection, and I actually use like one or two of them. I lend them to my friends, and they’ll take them for six months at a time… I shared them around.”

Jane Fonda

All hail the fearless, badass forever young-at-heart Jane Fonda! Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres show in 2017 when Fonda was 79 years old, she kept it way real about her appreciation for toys — even, according to DeGeneres’ concerns, perhaps a bit too real for daytime TV. She explained that she even has a vibrator that “hangs around my neck and it looks like a beautiful piece of silver jewelry.” As to whether she calls upon that device when she’s out and about, she said, “Depends on who you’re with and what the bathroom looks like.” Fonda even brought a vibrator to show off — and DeGeneres reminded her, “This is daytime… I cannot show that.”

Oh, but yes — yes, she can.

Jenny McCarthy

It might not surprise that personality Jenny McCarthy has been vocal about her intimate accessories. To Us Weekly, she copped to carrying her vibrator in her bag everywhere she goes — along with other essentials, like a Caboodles makeup case, extra blank check, and a spare bra just in case.

Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone has too many decades under her belt in Hollywood to mince words. In 2012, she took to OpenSky to lend her endorsement to a product called The Leaf, a vibrator made from non-toxic plastics. In addition to its environmental friendliness, the actress said she likes, “that they look natural and feminine… like leaves and flowers… not scary.”
