Meghan Trainor apologises for 'careless' remarks about teachers

Meghan Trainor has apologised for saying ‘f*** teachers’ in a recent episode of her podcast.

The 29-year-old singer made the comment while talking to her brother and co-host, Ryan Trainor, 30, and their guest Trisha Paytas, 34, about homeschooling her children on their podcast Workin’ On It.

The trio were talking about how they would not want to send their children to school when some have to go armed with bulletproof rucksacks due to the threat of shootings in the USA. 

The All About That Bass singer explained how the comment wasn’t intended for ‘all teachers’, as she explained the context of the conversation.

‘Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said. “F teachers,” on my podcast, and it’s not how I feel,’ she began in an apology video on TikTok.

‘I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific, and what all of us have to go through, but especially teachers, is not normal, and not okay.

‘I had Trisha Paytas on the podcast and I knew her history with her teachers, and I knew my husband’s history with his teachers, and I was bullied by some teachers, so in that moment I got angry and said, “F teachers, F those specific human beings back in the day,” but I did not mean that to all teachers.

‘I love teachers, I fight for teachers, I think that they have the hardest job and they are the most under-paid, the most unappreciated, when they literally raise all of us.

‘I don’t want to make excuses, I am just so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad.

‘And I will remind myself that my words definitely can have a consequence, and I will be more careful. Love you all so much, I’m so sorry again. Thank you all for helping me.’

Alongside the video, Meghan thanked another TikTok account for calling her out on her words and ‘bringing attention’ to it.

‘I LOVE teachers and I am here for you ❤️ Let’s work to make schools a better place together,’ she added.

In the original podcast episode, the songwriter said: ‘We’re homeschooling our kid, everyone on TikTok is. They’re like, this is what it is like to have a kid in school in America, I have a bullet-proof backpack, like, “F*** all that.”

Influencer Trisha, 34, then started to talk about teachers, to which Meghan chimed in: ‘F*** teachers dude.’

In March, three children and three members of staff were killed at a school in Nashville.

According to a Washington Post database, there have been 17 school shootings in America this year.
