Jameela Jamil Called Out Amber Rose for Promoting Detox Tea While Pregnant

Jameela Jamil is one of our favorite celebs. The Good Place actor is poised, sophisticated and talented as hell. But don’t let her sweet demeanor fool you: She has a no bullshit policy — especially when it comes to the diet industry. Jameela Jamil criticized Amber Rose for promoting detox tea while pregnant.

“FLAT TUMMY PRODUCTS FOR… PREGNANT WOMEN?” Jamil wrote on Twitter. “Is this FDA-approved? Are we… fucking…kidding?”

She then tagged the US Food & Drug Administration.

Of course, the whole premise is ridiculous. Pregnant women should not have flat tummies. (You are carrying a child for Christ sake! Your abdomen will expand.) And while the tea in question states it is for digestion only — per the Flat Tummy website, the beverage is for “babes with babies… [who] could use a little extra help” — the fact that such a product exists is problematic, as it targets those who are vulnerable, emotional and/or self-conscious. “You would not BELIEVE the pressure to not gain weight/have a ‘bump only’ pregnancy,” one Twitter user wrote. “As a recovered anorexic it’s extremely difficult to try shut out these influences.”

This is not the first time Jamil has gone after her peers. Earlier this year, Jamil called out Khloé Kardashian when she peddled a detox tea on her Instagram story, and in 2018, Jamil went after Cardi B for the same damn thing. And we tip our hats to Jamil. Her persistence is admirable and truly badass. But it is shame that Jamil has to wage this war in the first place.

We should do better. We can do better. We need to do better — for ourselves and our kids.
