Is Prince Harry Hinting at Wanting Baby #2 with Meghan Markle?

Stop the presses: baby Archie may only be six months old, but it seems his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, could be ready for round two. Prince Harry was hinting at wanting a second child with Meghan Markle while visiting with military families this week, and it’s pretty much the best news we’ve heard all year.

Meghan and Harry were visiting with military families in advance of Remembrance Day (more or less the same as Veterans Day here in the states). At a local community center, the families of deployed service members had gathered, and the Sussex royals dropped by on a surprise visit.

As usual, Meghan and Harry were particularly charmed by the young kids they encountered. Susie Strongfellow, one of the women present, told Forces Network that Harry was inquiring about certain aspects of her family life.

“Harry was really quite interested in how things were with second children as well, because we both have older children,” Strongfellow recounts. “We were trying to encourage him to have a second baby.” (Yes, Strongfellow! Keep doing the Lord’s work.)

Victoria Tucker, whose partner is in the Army, spoke with Forces as well: “They were talking about Army life, being away for Christmas…they can compare with us,” she explains. “They didn’t want to miss anything, with their little boy now, just how our husbands miss their children.”

Harry can certainly relate to that on many levels. We’re sure he currently doesn’t see Archie quite as much as he’d like with his royal duties, and he also served 10 years in the Army and knows the effect it has on one’s family. “It’s unbelievably hard. I have so much respect and admiration for anyone who has to deal with that,” the Duke of Sussex told these families.

And where was Meghan in all this? Well, spilling about Archie’s baby teeth, first and foremost, and generally swapping stories with other mothers of young kids. Amy Thompson, another woman the Sussex couple chatted with, said this: “My daughter Aeris is the same age as Archie and we talked about weaning and the children beginning to crawl — she’s just a normal mum and it was like talking to a friend.”

Why are we not surprised to hear it? Whether or not they decide to start trying for a second baby, Meghan and Harry have built a beautiful family with Archie, and we’re cheering for whatever they do next.
