Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks leads Christine Mcvie tributes

Stevie Nicks has shared a touching tribute to Fleetwood Mac star Christine McVie following her death aged 79 on Wednesday night. 

Describing the late singer as ‘my best friend in the whole world’, the musician posted heartfelt words on her social media channels on hearing the tragic news. 

The US singer and fellow Fleetwood Mac member admitted she hadn’t known of McVie’s illness until Saturday night and had intended to visit her in London.

‘A few hours ago I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975, had passed away’, she wrote in a photo of a handwritten letter that was uploaded to Instagram. 

‘I didn’t even know she was ill … until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London, I wanted to get to London – but we were told to wait.

‘So, since Saturday, one song has been swirling around my head, over and over and over. I thought I might possibly get to sing it to her, and so I’m singing it to her now.

Mick Fleetwood added his own personal message to his ‘dear sweet friend’, uploading an image that contained the typed out words of sorrow and love for McVie.

He reminded his followers that she would have wanted them to know ‘love is all around us to reach for’.
