Denise Welch scolded by sister after revealing shocking story on Loose Women
09/09/2023Denise Welch has admitted that she needs to censor herself when sharing stories on live television.
Initially known for her work starring on soaps including Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, Denise joined Loose Women for the first time between 2005 and 2013, before returning to the show in 2018.
She’s known for not holding back when in front of the cameras on the panel show, but Denise, 65, has now said it’s got her in trouble with loved ones at times.
The TV personality has now explained how sharing a particular anecdote on camera riled up her sister.
Recalling how she once came off air to find she had angered her sister Debbie by revealing intimate details about her private life, Denise explained exactly what happened during a Loose Women Live show this week.
‘When you’ve done a show as long as this, you have to edit yourself. Sometimes, our families sit there at home absolutely s***ing themselves,’ she said.
‘There was one time that I came off air and I’d said something that got a laugh.
‘My phone was just bleeping. It was my sister. I said “Are you all right?” She said “No I’m not, everyone is staring at me.”
She continued: ‘I’d just told the whole nation that she had shagged the best man over the snooker table!’
Denise was joined on stage in her hometown of Newcastle by fellow panellists Linda Robson, Jane Moore and Charlene White who treated their audience to a raunchier version of the daytime programme.
As well as discussing serious topics and taking questions from the audience, Denise tried to teach her fellow panellists a Geordie accent, while the ladies also played a risqué game of Never Have I Ever.
Earlier this year Denise also let loose on the show as she went into explicit detail about a sex app.
The panel were discussing an app that helps track chores for couples living together, when Denise decided she was bored and wanted to talk about another one.
‘What does interest me is one I heard about a few weeks ago … it’s basically how to keep a long-distance love life alive,’ she said.
Speaking eagerly, she insisted a ‘friend’ had told her about the app – and went into serious detail about how it worked.
‘The girl has something that goes in,’ here she helpfully acted out where it went in – ‘and he has a tube.’
She added: ‘And on the app you do jiggy jigs with each other.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
