Denise Welch has announced she’s taking a break from Loose Women, and is off on an ‘adventure’, not long after Carol McGiffin’s explosive exit from the panel show.

Denise, who recently shared that her son Matty Healy is ‘absolutely shattered’ on his world tour, is now taking a break from her phone and social media for a ‘couple of weeks’.

The 1975 frontman, who has sparked rumours that he is romantically linked to Taylor Swift, is currently gigging around the world until the end of September.

Having shared how wiped her son is, Denise, 65, has now revealed that she’s stepping back from Loose Women temporarily.

In a video shared to her followers on Instagram, the former Coronation Street actress said: ‘Well on this day, on my 65th birthday, I want to thank you in advance for all the lovely messages and comments that I’ve received.

‘I’m going off on a little adventure for a couple of weeks so I’m going to be off here and off my phone.

‘I don’t quite know how I’m going to cope, but I’m going to give it a try, so don’t think I have disappeared.

‘It’s just a temporary little holiday and I’ll be back soon, so lots and lots of love.’

Denise, who is married to PR manager Lincoln Townley, continued: ‘I’m going to be with my hubby, so we’re both off on an adventure.

‘Lots and lots of love, and I remember on this day, it’s not only my birthday but it’s the anniversary of when we lost my gorgeous mum Annie, and just to say for those missing their mums, I’m thinking of you.

‘But it’s a full circle, she brought me into the world on the 22nd May, and she left the world, holding mine and my sisters’ hands on the 22nd May.

‘So it’s a celebration of life as well, so lots of love I’ll see you soon.’

She added in the caption: ‘Thank you and au revoir for a couple of weeks!!!’

This comes after Denise shared an insight into her sin’s hectic life, saying: ’Matty is absolutely shattered.

‘He’s on a world tour and as much as it’s hard to go, “Oh, please feel sorry for my boy,” people don’t realise that it’s gruelling to be the lead singer, the creator, the writer, the producer of a massive show on the scale that Matthew does.

‘Then he gets on stage and gets in a plane and flies seven hours and then flies 24 hours.’

Love Story singer Taylor has been engulfed in rumours of a romance with Matty lately, following her split from boyfriend of six years Joe Alwyn.

They have been spotted together multiple times since speculation began that they are an item, while sources have also claimed to have seen them ‘cuddling and kissing’.

Denise has two sons, Matty and actor Louis Healy, with her ex-husband Tim Healy, whom she was married to for 24 years.

Denise’s break from Loose Women comes after Carol McGiffin left the ITV daytime programme, saying she was ‘forced’ to make the decision.

In her weekly column for Best magazine, Carol wrote: ‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say ‘no thanks.’”

She added that she’s been ‘quite upset about it’, and said it was a decision she was ‘forced to make’.

After announcing her exit, Carol, 63, blasted Loose Women, accusing the programme of ‘forcing woke views down people’s throats’.

Appearing on GB News to address her absence from the show, she said: ‘Well put it this way, reading all the comments from the article at the weekend there are a lot of people who think the programme has gone very, very woke.’

She joked that even she doesn’t watch anymore and added: ‘You just don’t have to keep forcing this stuff down peoples’ throats. It’s not just ITV, the BBC is probably worse actually.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
